Are extremely stupid.

Ever noticed the 'back our boys' bumper stickers and things like that? Seems kind of like a paradox to me, by 'backing' somebody up, you send them into a warzone? Hmmm, makes a lot of sense. Its like being so glad that your brother/sister got a new job which pays well, that you go and tell the manager they are a thief. Yes.... Paradoxical.

It all comes down to this issue - Inevitabitality and Warfare.

A great propoganda tool learnt by the Modern Governments is that once a populace knows Warfare is inevitable - for example the contempt with which the US treated the UN, then they will eventually get in line because if they don't, they are not 'backing our boys' or being 'patriotic'. It stifles the populace and the leadership class into agreeing with you. After all, who would want to challenge the patriotic leadership about a War in which Americans are dying at the risk of being labelled a 'liberal'.

Hmm, Modern Propoganda still exists people! Read 'Media Control!

I've seen tons of people with yellow ribbon stickers on their cars that say "Support Our Troops", but I don't think that they are stupid at all. What's wrong with supporting the people that are fighting for and representing your country? It's the soldiers' choice to go into a warzone, by the way.

I keep an american flag sticker on my car, and I care about our troops. Still, I opposed going to war in Iraq. There is no conflict. I love my country because of our high ideals, and I criticize it when we don't live up to them.

I say whomever gets elected NS Emporer or whatever should appoint me Minister of Booze ... though if I get elected, free booze for all!

Sorry ... not threadjacking ... here, I'll offer an opinion on topic.

Frankly, I think it's nice to support the troops. I'm a veteran and I have a soft spot for other veterans ... even if they're insane neocon freaks with strange alien ideaologies (HannibalSmith? :D ), I will still give them a listen if they're veterans.

However, I believe that supporting our troops means getting them the hell out of the shitstorm as fast as humanly possible. Leaving a soldier to rot in the desert for 14+ months just because you slapped together a plan last minute and watch it on CNN from your comfortable Texas ranch is, in MHO, a war crime.
