Yay another flame thread

Anyways my opinion is because politicians in general are dumb

People that have an urge for power rather then doing something useful piss me off

“you know what I think I will become a non productive member of society … I will let the working class pay my wages while I sit around and argue with other idiots about how to control thus for stated working class”

all politicians are idiots. They are figureheads for the real people who have the power and sway of society, be they special interest, major corporation or international interest

He got to be president despite being an idiot because of the team around him. And, for the sake of argument, he didn't fix the election, his brother did.

One thing I should remind people of--just because a person has a speech problem (and sometimes I suspect Bush genuinely has one or perhaps another language-related learning disability) doesn't make them an idiot, any more than being dyslexic does...Thomas Edison being an example of a dyslexic who had so much trouble in school that he was thrown out of school at the age of 12 due to problems with math, and also with words and speech. I don't know what the particular situation is with Bush and why he makes the verbal gaffes he does, but I think we have to remember that we DON'T know all of the underlying causes, and that if it should be a learning disability--that does NOT make a person stupid, by any means.

I dont normally read or respond to threads in General, and in fact I should hope this is my only post here, but I have to weigh in.

Everyobdy complains about politicians. Everyone says the suck.

Where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky, they come from American parents, American schools, American familes, american homes, american businesses, and american universities, and they're elected by the american people.

This is the best we can do, folks. This is what we have to offer; it's what our system produces.

Garbage in, garbage out.

If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to have selfish ignorant leaders. And term limits won't do you any good since you'll just have another asshole in office on the next term. So maybe its not the politicians that suck. Maybe something else sucks around here. Like, the public.

I mean really. If it's just the politicians, where are all the other bright people of conscience? Where are all the bright honest intelligent Americans ready to step in and save the nation and lead the way? We don't have people like that in this country. Everyone's at the mall... scratchin' his ass, picking his nose, and taking his credit card out of his fanny pack to buy a pair of sneakers with lights in them.

This country was bought and sold and paid for a long time ago. This shit that they shuffle around every four years just isn't cutting it.

Most of us are too busy playing NS to do anything about anything. The rest moved to Canada and Europe.

Capitalization, spelling, grammar, punctuation.

These are the things that make the human race special.

First of all, Bush is _an_ idiot, not _a_ idiot. Idiot. (just messing with you) Secondly, his intelligence, or lack thereof isn't the main problem. He's just not a scientific thinker. He has a world view, and a set of opinions. He chooses which facts and advice to accept based on whether they support his own view. Scientific thinkers take in all the evidence, and then shape their views to take it all into account.
Some examples of Bush's unscientific thinking include:

His insistance that Iraq was working with Al Quaeda in spite of reams of evidence that they weren't
His beleif that creationism is on the same footing with evolution in spite of the all the evidence against the former and in support of the latter

I know. Actually in a way it makes the point even more valid! George Carlin speaks to the intelligent cynic in us all. And he does fart jokes, which of course I like.

Honestly, exactly how bright do you think he has to be to say "Jeb, fix the election for me."?

And the 'speech problem' argument doesn't cut it for explaining Bush's stupidity. People with speech problems don't tend to say the same stupid things repeatedly. Some of Bush's idiotic vocalisations have been repeated a lot more than just once or twice.

I don't know about the US,but here in the UK,anyone can run for Prime Minister. You just need a small cash deposit and a petition signed by 20 people, last time I checked.
Why is this? many employers have an aptitude test/IQ test and a probation period, along with screening. Some empoly Psychometric testing.
To get my job,I had to supply two personal references, references from four former employers, provide ID,complete a Police criminal record check, attend 2 interviews, supply evidence of exam results, etc.
Because my job involves security procedures I cannot go into,The screening can take over 3 months.
Anyway, shouldn't there be a Personality/IQ/polygraph test before people qualify?

Nobody 'runs' for PM. The PM is appointed by the Queen, as the member of the house of commons with majority support.

Are you sure you don't mean run for MP? :p

As other people have already pointed out, it doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence to get other people to fix the election for you. Such as his brother, the governor of Florida, or his daddy's cabinet.

I'm just glad you're not denying that the election was fixed. :p

But even if Bush were some kind of evil and manipulative genius masquerading as someone's lost village idiot, would that make him a better president, or mean he deserved the position when he didn't win? No, in fact it would mean that the situation is a whole lot worse than we already thought it was.

I'm not talking about general mispronunciations and grammar errors. It's the really idiotic stuff that he says repeatedly, like the way he insists on referring to muslim women as 'women of cover'. Also, no manner of dyslexia will cause someone to say something as stupid as 'misunderestimate' more than once.

Much of what he says has nothing to do with dyslexia or speaking disorders. He says things that are poorly thought out, arbitrary, ignorant, and even downright incomprehensible. These are not desirable qualities in a president.

The truth is, we do know what he has - a woefully limited intellect.

How can all you people be saying this?!!!!! President Bush is (according to me) is probly one of the bvest Presidents this nation has had since the late Ronald Reagn. I generally dont trust polticans, here in Alaska the govener that we voted into office is a stupid, dirty, rotten, liar!!! He said that he would reduce taxes, what did he do??? he raised them. He said he would make the permanet fund divedned (forgive my spelling) what happend.... it got lower. Im sure Business Alaska knows what im talking about. But give the President some leway, and for all of you who live in America have you forgoten what happened on 9/11??? If the President had not acted upon the matter as he did there would have been more attacks like 9/11. I cant belive how many people thought that we did nothing to stop this attack on American life, How could we have known?? Yes the C.I.A and the F.B.I probly knew something was going to happen, but did they know when or where?? Think about these questions.
