This looks like it's going to be hilarious but I haven't seen a single preview for it on TV or in the theaters.

I hear its very right wing.

I bet it will have some overused joke about Osama Bin Laden being shot in the balls or something like that... Its really not very funny any more.

well as far a cartoons go, South Park is pretty right wing, when you compare it to the Simpsons or Family Guy. Remember the one about the catholic church, where all the atheists have turds coming our of their mouths? Its Colorado right-wing though, which does not mean Bush loving. Remebe teh "Christmas is Iraq" episode? That was fukin great.

It does indeed look awesome.

I dunno about the right wing thing (hang on, is that some sort of offshoot of the silver ring thing? Stupid name anyway...), Stone and Parker tend to make fun of both sides anyway...

I agree entirely. But as for who are they voting for? (I know its meaningless speculation) I seriously doubt they vote for Bush.

I saw a quote by one of the SP creators, it was like "I hate Conservatives. But I really motherf***ing hate Liberals" or something like that. They're socially moderate, I think, while foreign policy conservatives...

ya, but there is a huge differance between Rep vs Dem and Liberal vs Conservative.

For instance, on a political spectrum, both the dems and reps fall on the right of centre side of things, making them BOTH conservative parties.

Ok, look at it from an American perspective, considering we're talking about American elections. Everyone knows that to far-leftists/Canadians/W. Europeans American looks like a place where everyone's far right.

I'm not trying to take the perspective of anyone in the world.

I was trying to make an objective statement about the politics in America. The only place where the Democrats are "liberal" is in America.

Seriously, I dont think either of them would vote for Bush or Kerry.

No, put the democrats in most of the non-Western world and they'd be considered extreme liberals. Only in Canada, Europe, and a few, few, places in Asia and of course Australia would they be considered Conservative.

thats what i mean. Dont compare them to anything, use an objective political compass.

Liberal and Conservative aren't comparitive statements. Just because the dems are less extreme than the reps, doesnt make them liberal, it makes them less conservative, more progressive i think the term is.... that might be too loaded a term though...

Way too right wing? Are you guys nuts. Have you guys actually seen or heard of a little show called "Thats my Bush"? It was a spoof of bodgy 90's sitcoms. A republican wouldnt make a show like that. I dont know thier political leanings. But I do know they have progressive attitudes.

Look at the title. Does it sound like its a conservative show?

How can you have a truely objective political compass? Someone has to decide what 0,0 is, and there's no set method for deciding whats liberal and whats conservative. You said that the only place Democrats would be considered Liberal is in America. I really disagree. Simply being as pro-democratic, pro-equal rights, pro-worker as they are would put them in the liberal category, perhaps radical, in a whole boatload of countries especially in the 3rd world.

Its simple for me. If you are progressive you are liberal, if you are not you are conservative.

Or course thats not to say that I buy into all that Labelling Fandangery.

From the title it sounds like they will be spoofing those BS Counter terrorism shows that have popped up lately Like Threat Matrix, or NCIS.

the inherant flaw with the political compass is that it polorizes ideologies and simplifies them into left or right, black or white, leaving almost no room for people to interpret a shade of grey. It also simplifies tough political ideologies into a very set and confining group. Someone who is tough on crime but also believes in re-habilitation would be very difficult to plot on the political compass for these reasons.

While the Democrats obviously have more liberal ideas than the republicans, im sure that neither would say that they are against equality or the working man. Those arent what the political compass is based upon. The political compass is based on how a party interprets the rights of man and what their actions towards their goals are.

Yes, the 0 place on THE political compass that political scientists use is a compleatly arbitrary point. So is 0 in math. Its simply a starting point.

I'm sure neither of them would Say it.

Frankly some of the grey areas in politics are simply the poorly thought out or indecisive parts.

I watched most of the limited run of That's My Bush! and not a majority, but an amount of South Park and I'm going to take a stab at thier criteria for making fun of something:

They make fun of things that people are taking too seriously. I think the strongest case is in the mormon episode-merciless to the mormons for 99% of the episode then turned its on its ear by stabing at the heart of the mormon detractors, since both camps take themselves too seriously. Just my observation. May not be right.

10% "This movie is gonna rock"
10 %"Yeah, but it's political"
80% "ROFFLE POLITICS!"

Well, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they are Canadian - so they would definitely be neither.
