what's with the "what to in an emergency" booklet that came through my door this morning, basically telling people to store up food and spy on my neighbours!!! must have been lifted from the stazi manual methinks, this trumped up terrorism thing is getting too damn serious and turning britain into some sort of right wing madhouse. what next, internment for moslems living here peacefully?...hate to say it but i might move countries if this gets any worse!!!

You've recieved it already? I'm still waiting for it. It's like the hide-under-your-desk-when-the-Ruskies-drop-the-A-bomb stuff revisited. As long as you don't give it too much deep thought it's kind of funny and kitsch

Count yourselves lucky. In the States, we don't even get a booklet, just a lot of commecials on TV with Ridge telling us we'll be ready to act without ever telling us what that really means.

I dunno... I think New Labour and their PR flaks are just too smarmy to really make it funny. There are some good one-liners, like "there are times when it is not a good idea to run into a building: for example, if it is on fire", but it's not a laugh-a-minute page-turner like Protect and Survive. Remember all the stuff about putting your dead wife in a black plastic binliner, labelling her with her NI number, and tipping her into the street? Just the wife, though: no-one else. Or painting the windows white to deflect gamma rays? A comedy classic by any definition.

Daco I haven't got it yet but I definitely agree with you that this is becoming ridiculous. New Labour's lost it. No chance i'm voting for the conservatives either. Go go BNP :P I'm not sure i like the lib dems either. So .. that leaves who? Is the loonie party still going for it?
