Just in case something happens ...

I'm making the proposal now ...

If some nice Canadian or Australian or Japanese family will sponsor me, I would be more than happy to come to your country. (I am a US citizen)

Us ...

Me: Experienced tailor with 20 years experience in my craft and, that aside, I hold post-graduate degrees in philosophical ideaologies. Her: A 14 year bartending veteran with schooling in Chemical Engineering and Education.

We: Have 3 children (6, 4, and 2) and a happy, loving relationship.

One of the things that will hold us back is that we don't have anyone who will sponsor us in the event that the Bush Dictator takes over our country. Anyone?

If Bush becomes dictator its doubtful he'd allow an exodus (which is what would happen) occur.

Hard to tell if you're serious or joking.

Come back here, you coward! You've got a lot of packing secret wall compartments with soon-to-be forbidden knowledge and history to do!

Sheesh.

Oh, I don't know about all that. Wall compartments, thats so... WWII Occupational Resistence. I say we form militias and take over key access points to the major metropoliton sewer and subway systems, as well as rail.

Then, when the time is right and we've gotten enough followers and supporters in the shadow congress, we spring up and capture key transportation points into and out of the various states and the country... then we signal NATO and the U.N. to hopefully send troops to compliment the struggling yet plucky Liberal Army...

Or am I thinking too much into this?

Personally, I'm looking into New Zealand. I was trying to find an image of the current ad campaign they have up on posters around here, but alas, my google imag skills are lacking. Anyway, it has a picture of a beautiful landscape and the tagline says "Defectors Welcome." I figure I can hold them to that in court. :D

You know, if it comes down to it, I could probably flee and live with my brother in New Zealand. Sure I hate him, but to get away from Bush...

(I'm not sure if this is all meant to be a joke or not, I hope it is but suspect it is not.)

It's one of those "whistling past the graveyard" kind of jokes--you hope it's a joke, but there's always a chance it won't be.

I'd be happy to sponsor you, but the general public over here in Britain don't have the most enlightened views on asylum seekers, and neither does our facist government.

Lol I think this is a joke to be honest (and damn well hope it is). Two-working parents that are able to afford to support 3 children not be able to financially support themselves in nations remarkably similar to America? (At least Canada is anyways).

Heh, yes.... that Bush Dictator... who can't legally hold office for more than 4 (or is it 5? I get the Canadian and American mixed up) years after the election, if he is indeed elected.

I'm starting to get scared of the prospect, but Kerry winning is no where near a sure thing. And sure, /now/ he can only have another 4 years, but I've heard he wanted to repeal that term limit for a while now... and considering the Repubican control of the government, and how the Republican's seem to think that they can change the constitution to take away rights on a whim, and should...

Trust me, all of us crazy left-wing liberals are worried.

No no, hes the leader. He doesn't need the smarts, just the idea. From there, Lackeys in the party can take action, and Shit rolls downhill. Everyone remember the USA PATRIOT Act, or as I like to call it, "The walking talking breathing contridiction to patriotism."?

Ignorance is a huge huge problem in this country, and values such as anti-intellectualism make problems fast.
