Open letter to Thomas Kean (http://www.911citizenswatch.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=373&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0)
Just read it. I know its long. It contains some interesting revelations by Sibel Edmonds, a concerned American Citizen, a former FBI translator, a whistleblower, a witness for a United States Congressional investigation, a witness and a plaintiff for the Department of Justice Inspector General investigation, and a witness for the 9/11 Commission.
There seems to be quite a bit of bodgeyness about they way counter terrorism is handled and edmonds doesnt see how more funding and some Kickass intellignece King will fix things for ever and ever. Also an interesting insight to the way conspiracies can be orchestrated. Case in point how the FBI dudes ordered thier translators to stop translating so they could go to the commission and say "Look at this massive backlog of work, We need free money!"
After the terrorist attacks of September 11 we, the translators at the FBI’s largest and most important translation unit, were told to slow down, even stop, translation of critical information related to terrorist activities so that the FBI could present the United States Congress with a record of ‘extensive backlog of untranslated documents’, and justify its request for budget and staff increases. While FBI agents from various field offices were desperately seeking leads and suspects, and completely depending on FBI HQ and its language units to provide them with needed translated information, hundreds of translators were being told by their administrative supervisors not to translate and to let the work pile up
Fbi head office also put some guy into a senior translating position. Even though he could barely speak english. And sent him to guantanamo bay. Though unfortunately not as a punshment, at least not officially. He was there to translate transcripts from the detainee interrogations. Even thought he didnt know WTF he was doing. And How did he get the job in the first place? His wife was an FBI exams administrator.
