http://www.angelfire.com/comics/spacedout/index.htm

your task, should you choose to accept it, is to visit the above link and review the comic. Upon completion of this objective, you are to report back here and tell me what you think. I need feedback! Tell me what you like, tell me what you don't like, which episode, if any, is your favorite or least favorite! If you have any ideas, tell me what we can do better, what is good, and what is downright awful.

And before you ask, the sprites are all custom and I can't get any made for you.

Thank you!

Good comedy makes you laugh because it's funny on the surface, then when you think about it, and figure out what really has been said, you laugh again.

"Ditto" and "what he said" hardly count as any form of help.

Did you read all of them, or just the one that popped up? did you look around the site at all?

and OI, I don't think 8BT, SF, or PA has any deeper meaning other than, black mage is evil, the rabbit is an asshole, and Gabe hates a lot of people

You didn't tell anyone to look around...

If you abbreviate every important word in the message down to 2-3 letters, no one outside your target audience will understand, so....you posted here on a general forum (clearly outside of your target audience) and asked for opinions. I'm giving you my opinions.

Who is it for then?
Stupid science fiction jerks who can't make a decent joke?

No, it just proves that you are covering for the poor reception of 8 Bit Theater and others with elitism and pretending they are brilliant when they are merely there.

For a website with a comic (that's probably better than the one that this guy offered up) that sucks but with lots of other content, click my sig. If you don't laugh at least once after reading everything on the page...well...I dunno...check your pulse.

I just read all the episodes, and I think you´re off to an excellent start, so keep at it. Anyway, here are my suggestions:

1. Too much background, many things are hard to figure out (for instance the hole one of the main characters fell through)
2. The sound effects could be a bit more flashy (bigger and with stuff around them). For instance, it just didn't look like anyone was banging at the door really. I didn't even notice it at first.
3. The plot is too complicated, so you can't really get into the swing of things. There's these two guys who have a bounty on their heads. One of them likes Mountain Dew. The other knows how to build complicated machinery. I seems like the universe resembles the Star Wars -universe.
That's not too much to go on, since there is so much action. I couldn't associate with the story in any way. Maybe drop a few hints about the history of these fellas or about the surrounding universe.

Actually, the mountain dew is an obscure, obscure joke tha I really didn't expect this forum to get.

We've got a new system, I'm using photoshop for the text instead of paint, So sound effects actually don't suck.

You can go to the link to see the newest one, and we have one that will be up in about ten minutes

That would be true, but our target audience is not everyone. Our target audience is people who take something at face value, not looking for a deeping meaning.

And poor reception? mayhap you didn't notice, but Penny-Arcade is ranked 4,000-ish on Alexa, whereas Nationstates is 12,000.

I was simply saying that our target audience is the sort of people who read 8Bit, Sluggy, and PA, and would be able to recognize them as such. It is hardly elitism to appeal to a demographic. By that logic, I could call you an elitist for demanding that this appeal to you.

And are you going to say that Sluggy, PA, and 8bit aren't brilliant humor. Tycho, Gabe, Brian, and peter are pretty much the only people who can get me from zero to laughing in under five seconds.

So, if they are NOT brilliant, show me brilliance

I can crank out comedy gold once a month.

Do it three times a week.

And maddox still falls well short of PA, you should know, coming in at about 7,000
EDIT:
it would also be worthy to note that Maddox himself approves of PA

Yeah, the comic was mildly entertaining, but I would not seek to read more...I had to read it twice to get the joke...Not a good sign!

But keep up the work, and perhaps try drawing with your hand, instead of using an art program...it'll liven thing's up a bit!!!

Thank you Vald.

We're going to try in a new direction over the next week or so, becoming less story-driven and more four panel jokes. We just can't mix story and humor like Brian Clev or Scott Kurtz

True...I only read the most recent one...so perhaps some of the humor was lost on me by not reading the previous ones, too!

Good luck with your comic!!!
