She was an actress who played the blonde in King Kong, the one that he carried to the top of the Empire State Building.

The somewhat less hirsute star of the original King Kong movie.

Wow.

Rick James.

Fay Wray.

I bet Pauly Shore's feeling really nervous about now.

I'll wear my Dragstrip Riot t-shirt in memory. (her last film. I would have put up a link to imdb.com for it, but it doesn't have much more than the tagline for the film.)

Should we start a sweepstake to see who pops their clogs next?

About four years ago I got a chance to see the original King Kong being shown after restoration on the big screen in the middle of Manhattan. Definitely an experience to remember - the ape was laying waste to the exact neighbourhood surrounding the cinema.

Fay Wray has died.

Oh yah? Wow ... I remember when I was a kid thinking how stunning she looked on film - of course, but the time I was born, she was 74, but her movies ... you know.

Very sad news, indeed. I'll have to throw in the King Kong DVD and toast her with some nice single malt this evening.

You can do that at rotten.com--it's called the dead pool. Predict what celebrities will croak in a year's time. I've never done it myself--a bit too ghoulish for my tastes--but if anyone's interested.

Note--rotten.com is not for the squeamish, and perhaps not for minors (not sure on that).
