Let's discuss Sport's movies
My favorite is Field of Dreams. It is an amazing movie that will make men cry at the end. It has memorable lines and no baseball fan will ever forget Terrance Mahn's (James Earl Jones) favorite speech at the end about the persistence of baseball. "PEOPLE WILL COME RAY, THEY WILL MOST DEFINITELY COME. They will drive up for no apparent reason and ask if they can look around. you will say fine but it's $20. They will find they have reserved seats on the 3rd base line and sit where they sat and watched their heroes as children." (that's only part of the speech)
There is also the interesting story of Doctor Archibald "Moonlight" Graham. That was actually a true story when they went through his history. Archie Graham really lived and in 1905 he was 5 minutes away from his dream. When he never got to it he went to Chisholm Minnesota where he became a Doctor. He is a legend in Chisholm to this day. The one thing I find funny about his part in the movie is he said his dream was to get an at bat, but when he gets his chance at the end he hits a sacrafice fly to right-center. I know baseball and if you hit a sacrafice fly you get the RBI, but it is not an official at bat.
Another sports movie I like is "Brian's Song" the true story of Bear's running back Brian Picolo and his tragic death to cancer at age 26. the true story of Brian Picolo that is shown is not just his death, but the man who overcame racial prejudices of the time with his best friend, NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers. There is also the part how Pic helped Gale recover from an ACL tear and how Pic kept his own spirits up and his friend's spirits up as he was sucombing to cancer.
I also think that "Major League" is another good one, great comedy.
