I would have to say Trigun, but that is anime, infinitely superior to mere cartoons.

Ah, yes, because everything must always be better than something else; everything must be formed into hierarchies. One simply can't agree that anime and western style cartoons are both quite good! And heaven help you if you try to see the world in shades of gray! Heh, "my preference is infinitely superior to your preference!" Right anarchic statement, that.

Myself, I love Trigun. Brilliant show. But so are Tom and Jerry, Rocky and Bullwinkle ('specially when it's spelled correctly!), and Courage the Cowardly Dog, just to name a few of my favorites.))

Anime blows most Western cartoons out of the water completely, except for King of the Hill perhaps. As for hierarchies, I don't think you understand anarchism quite right. Liking one thing doesn't constitute the kind of hierarchy anarchists oppose.

No, it doesn't. But I don't think you understand my argument, or perhaps your own position.

You didn't say "I prefer anime to western cartoons." You said (paraphrase) "Anime is better than cartoons." That implies a hierarchy in which anime is somehow intrinsically superior to western animation. Otherwise, how could anime “[blow] most western cartoons out of the water completely”?

Now, I’m not a fan of King of the Hill. I prefer many programs to it. But you’ll notice that I don’t say nor imply that those other programs are in some way “infinitely superior” to King of the Hill - just that I like them better.

This may sound odd, but a lot of the old Gerry Anderson puppettoons (Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray) I enjoyed, but NOT Captain Scarlet! After that the very non-PC George Pal stop-motion animated "Scarecrow" stories, and the Roughneck Chronicles. For Cel animation I prefer the pre-Harmony Gold "Macross," "Mospaedia." and the so-called "Southern Cross" series. I also enjoy, oddly enough, "My Life as a Teenaged Robot(don't ask)."

Old school:
Samurai Pizza Cats. Oh man, so awesome. Fond, fond memories.
Ninja Turtles. But then again, who DOESN'T like them? :p
Rocko's Moderm Life. Hell yeah.
X-Men. Am I the only one who TAPED the week long Dark Pheonix cycle? But I lost those tapes...:(
Super Mario Brothers! Common, someone else here had to be a complete video game nerd growing up like me xD

New stuff:
Teen Titans. I can't believe I'm the only one :D
Spongebob. 'Nuff said.
Invader Zim. Helllll yeah.
Angry Beavers. GOD, that show was funny. I can't believe it got cancled :(
Family Guy. I own every DVD and kiss them at night :p. Ok, not really, but I SHOULD.
Simpsons. That show is classic.
Futurama. Me lurves.
South Park...at times. Sometimes it's just not that funny.

Anime:
FLCL. Oh man. I need to own that.
Cowboy Bebob. But then again, everyone loves that show ;)
Sorry, and I know I'll get shot for this, but Big O was very gripping. Unfortunatly, I was never able to see the second season :(

I forgot Mario Brothers! Yeah, that show was great. No other show was as wonderfully redundant- have live actors playing the characters, and then in the middle of the show, have a cartoon with the same characters! And, of course, it had the Legend of Zelda cartoon shorts, too. So sweet.

South Park- also good. Beavers, too.

I just saw that Family Guy is coming back on Fox this Friday with new episodes! Thank god for greedy executives!

But the list:
-The Simpsons
-The Tick
-Earthworm Jim
-Spiderman (which ever cartoon was the first. Remakes are always crap)
-Pinky and the Brain
-South Park (only the first few saesons before they got ridiculous)
-X-men
-Futurama
-Astroboy (again this is the original series, not the new crappy series)

That's all I can think of for now...

I only saw a few episodes of this, I don't remember why I stopped watching as I loved it.

Aqua Team Hunger Force, Family Guy, Sealab 2021, um thats about it, along time ago I used to love sponge bob religiously but then marketing somewhere spiraled out of control and I got so annoyed of seeing it I never even try to watch it anymore. It is actualyl really funny though.

simpsons was hillarious, but after a while it turned absolutely retarded. I never even realized it till I started watching family guy but simpsons is absolutely not funny anymore. The old old shows were good, nothing else though. And it was really sad when they started using celebrities to grab for ratings toward the end.

For comedy, nothing beats Simpsons. They went through a slump around 98-2002 but they seem to be back on form now.

In terms of quality of animation, storytelling, and just overall coolness, Samurai Jack can't be beat. It's got the best of western-style storytelling, combined with fantastic anime-style editing and action. Perfect.

For pure anime, I still love Neon Genesis and, of course, the original Astro Boy (the new series just plain sucks).

Also: Family Guy, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, a bit of Sealab 2021...
