I just got a TG from him that he was forum banned?
Why?

Because nobody in the universe needed THIS mental image.

So what MKULTRA did was sufficient to merit a temporary ban, but not excessive enough that the invocation of that mental image is removed?

It's needed for when people ask why he was banned. Like, um, this.

Wouldn't just saying "inappropriate imagery" be sufficient then? Moderators don't normally reprint pictures of tubgirl or whatever when asked why someone that posted that got slapped on the wrist.

I just feel kind of uneasy about this temporary ban - IIRC there have been RPs involving gun-rapes in II which haven't led to any moderator comments about nobody needing that kind of mental image. Would a lock not have been a more appropriate reaction?

(EDIT: and I am aware that MKULTRA has walked the line in the past with his cut-and-paste posting, but I fail to see te relevance of that here.)

Actual *images* versus mental images is a big difference, you know.

I thought he got suspended for being a royal pain in the arse. Silly me.

He's turned up on Fools Paradise bitching about it now.

Yes, but MKULTRA didn't receive a temporary ban for posting an actual '*image*' did he? That is the problem with parallels - they always break down at some point.

So MKULTRA's post was in the area where it was offensive enough to cause a temporary ban, but not offensive enough to be deleted?

No response to anything else I raised?

It's your parallel, not mine.

What, exactly, is your point? That the thread should be deleted?

No response to anything else I raised?

Most of it had nothing to do with the issue at hand.

I just found it strange that an image of naked people mud wrestled should be deemed inappropriate and the poster receive punishment for posting it, when much more unpleasent mental images have been posted elsewhere on the board without action by the moderators.

So what exactly is my point? Just that this seems inconsistant with other moderator rulings in the past.

Firstly, it wasn't me that made the decision, so I'm only guessing why the thread wasn't deleted or blanked. However, the reason for the ban is pretty clear; the post is completely pointless, blatant flamebaiting and utterly juvenile. Yes, unpleasant things have happened in RP forums, but in the contexts of wider story arcs; pointless offensive content is banned in those forums too.

Not just for "a" bad pun, but for the sheer amount of them that he posted. That's why it happened last time. Best as I can tell, a couple of times is one thing, but when you get into double digits, you're just asking for trouble. Seems silly to me, but hey, I'm not a mod so it's not up to me.
