I think that democrats and republicans are getting too much attention on the best/worst categories. So how about the who you think the best/worst non democrat/republican president ever was?

Me, I would have to say that the best was William H. Harrison. He only screwed up one thing in his entire presidency. Actually it was during his inauguration when he screwed up and the after effects would only last for thirty days. As for the worst, I have no idea.

John Adams. He's the reason Jefferson had to start a new party to try and fix things.

Abraham Lincoln, Father of the Republican Party. He was the best.

The worst, our current Commander in Chief, George W. Bush.

Er um. Those two were both republicans. Note that I was asking for non democrats and non republicans.

You should probably make it more clear, that you want one person who was neither a democrat or a republican
not that that matters...the question isn't even really relevent considering how much the parties have changed...I mean, Lincoln vs. Bush?

Nixon was pretty bad for his corrupt and unconstitutional operation of the White House. As for non-Dem and non-Rep, my knowledge is limited about pre-WWII US history (I'm Australian).

How about Washington? He kicked ass and wasn't Dem or Rep :D

I would agree that Adams was the worst... he had a pretty nasty term.
