Alrite i figured this is better then the faith questions, because it doesnt infringe on a persons lifelong philosphy ( regardlesss of whether or not i Believe it)
SO!
What helps make us who we are?

Nurture or Nature?

Genes or lessons?

Best to first ask what is biology and what is philosophy. :/

well you see in psychology it was the biggest thing. No one was sure whether your genes made you more who you were, or your environment. Im in the belief that genes predispose you to be a certain way, but the environment either strengthens that or weakens it ex. you are prone to have lung cancer, but you lived in a house where smokin wasnt allowed, so you didnt become a smoker, and thus werent really affected by that genetic predisposition....

Another great example are serial killers.... what makes them so evil, are they genetically disposed to being sick in the head, or does their environment make them become that way?

The columbine incident..... were those kids genetically inclined towards violent behavior? or did their environment make them pick up guns and kill?

I picked "Both" because it's the only answer that doesn't make sense in the context of the question.

Both have a bigger impact than each other?

What makes them "evil" at all?

The columbine incident..... were those kids genetically inclined towards violent behavior? or did their environment make them pick up guns and kill?
Nature and Nurture both play an important role. On one hand we’re all animals, fighting for survival. While on the other hand we have come up with alternate means of doing that fighting. Due to emotional states people may not adhere to whatever lessons, as you put it, they have learned. But because we have become accustomed to not having to be in a constant state of survival for our very lives we become shocked whenever somebody kills somebody else or does something to harm another.

I said nature...just look at twin studies

I watched this show the other day that was trying to find the "most identical twins" It was pretty weird...

The only major difference was in gross-out levels. One twin was a nurse and the other was in the army, so they were showing this medical stuff to them on a tv, and it grossed out the army girl but not the nurse...go figure.
