How to change the United States...

Sir Peter the sage

Every election I hear statements from both Democrats and Republicans to unify and vote for THEIR party. Why the hell should we? We do live in a democracy right? I'm asking everyone that reads this to spread the word. Vote for whatever party/candidate you want, whether it be Democrat, Republican, or a third party. More parties getting votes means more discussion and more cooperation. If people start to make up their own minds and decide on the candidate they WANT then we'll see far less partisan rage in the US. And we might just be able to get something done without pissing the other half of the country off. Change is never easy but our Founding Fathers knew that before starting this unprecedented experiment in freedom.

My mind is for the Democrats: I wanted Howard Dean but Kerry won the Nomination so he gets my vote.

Nader won't admit he helped Bush win and thinks somehow he will attract Conservatives... how?

Is there another third party?

Okay, I'll vote Democrat since thats the party I agree with and share values with.

Besides, I doubt too many people are all for a Communist party...

Yes there are other third parties. Libertarian, communist, Reform...others that I can't think of because I'm so friggin deprived of sleep. Vote for what you would want your president to be. What ideals best fit you. Don't bend to some idea that you have to vote for the "lesser of two evils", because if we all vote for who we want we can end this two party system. Encourage others to do the same. Please!

Well, unless you were actually a pregnant woman, I suppose it wouldn't really be any one ones' business what you did with your body, so if you also hated Bush, you would vote for another person.

Libertarians are jealous over Democratic Convention : I learned this after checking their home page, so their out.

Reform Party nominates Nader? Not them.

Communist are against Bush but weren't they the ones my Father fought in Vieitnam? That would be too rebellish.
They mean well but not till Heaven is on earth can communism work. Too much greed.
Any other parties?

This is exactly why I'd love to see a bi-partisan ticket, such as McCain and Kerry (in either seat).

THANK YOU! This is exactly what I've been saying. If everyone can vote for the candidate that they would REALLY want. In not just the presidential election but congressional, state and local elections too, we'll see a real change in our country. More parties having even some power would mean separate parties would be more likely to cooperate on the issues that they choose to cooperate on. Meaning when a bill is passed it would be more of the population would actually support the bill. And isn't giving people their say in government the fulfillment of democracy?

Just spread the word! Go and tell your friends, family. Hell, tell other people on these forums. They seem to discuss politics a bit...

Anyway, tell everyone you see to go look for whatever party that bests fits their ideals and vote for it. Grab strangers on the street and yell it in their faces! Then preach the message to your cellmates...

Change the land base will have to come from the bottom up. There is no way a third party candidate can become President in this race.

The Shrub is far to corrupt so I am going to "waste" my vote on Kerry.

Your missing the point. Change won't happen overnight. It may even take decades. But we should start now. Vote for whatever candidate you want. Bush/Kerry/whomever. You decide for your vote. Just vote for who you want the "most" even if they dont stand a chance of winning. Others may take that cue from you and do the same. Sooner or later, the trend will spread and we'll no longer have an America split in half. Where in order to please one half you have to completely disenfranchise the other half of the country.

That is the problem. Many of us voted for Nader the last election and that got us the Shrub.

Next election we can do it.

Sorry but the Shrub has to go.

No, if a third party gets a decent showing then the federal gov't has to pay them matching funds... a vote for a third party is actually very significant.

The Shrub is far to corrupt so I am going to "waste" my vote on Kerry.

I don't see how voting for Bush's frat-brother is going to change that...

NO ~ the fact that Mrs. Harris (under the orders of Jeb Bush) knocked thousands of African-Americans off of the voter rolls and then the Supreme Court decided in Bush V. Gore not to do a re-count is how Bush took the election... it has nothing to do with Nader.

Sorry but the Shrub has to go.

Bush and Kerry are both members of the same secret society, a secret society that they both refuse to talkabout except in stating that they belong to it: http://www.prisonplanet.com/archive_skull_and_bones.html

The Nader issue is that liberals could vote for him or Gore and still stay liberal. This split the liberal vote against a more solid conservative vote. If the people who voted for Nader voted for Gore instead, then Gore would have had a definitive lead and won the state.

I'm not just talking about the friggin Green Party! We should start voting for whatever party fits our ideals and values. Including variations on right wing parties like perhaps libertarian (economic right). Whatever candidate you would truly want, vote for. And while your at it tell other people you know to do the same.
