Bush Finally Speaks the Truth!

Well we've been waiting 4 years for Bush to admit responsibility about mistakes his administration has made and lies that he's told. Today, he's finally spoken the truth about his administration's aims and purposes. Its so refreshing. Here's the quote:

Signing a defense spending bill, President Bush declared America's terrorist enemies "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people" -- then he added, "And neither do we."

Isn't it refreshing to finally hear what the Bush Administration's intent is for our country? Finally, he speaks the truth!

Yea, there is already a thread on this topic. And I am sure you knew already that the president is an awful public speaker, and I pity the fool who believes that was what he actually meant to say. Do not freak every time our President messes up in a speech, we all make mistakes.

'President' Bush would not last 2 minutes as leader of a European Country.

Sure we all make mistakes...but can you remember the last time a president said that we are thinking up new ways to harm our own country?

But, its like the president himself has said, "Fool me once, shame on.......you can't get fooled again."

anyone else feel like the mental elite should be running our country rather than the economically elite?

WHy don't we hold the leaders of our country to higher standards? I think anyone running for President should have to take and pass majors tests about US history and critical thinking and whatnot before they are even allowed to be eligible for the presidency.

What? And miss out on the Dan Quayles?? He inspired an entire generation of idiots that they, too, could be president!

I tell you, if he gets four more years in office (HE WON'T!!!), I'm leaving the country. Thats a good quote, a Freudian slip maybe :) . Not that he would know what that means.

Yes, I also feel that way. I'm tired of having idiots as leaders.

Fools blinded by visceral hatred see only what they want to see.

It's obvious that what President Bush meant was: WE do not stop thinking about new ways that the TERRORISTS will use to harm our country and our people.

But when the central portion of the President's job concerns public speaking, either on a small or a large scale, you expect whoever holds the office to at least be sort of good at it.

Yeah, and what I meant when I wrote my initial post should have earned the Pullitzer. But what I meant and what I actually put out there for you to see are two different things, aren't they?

Of course its obvious what Bush meant....but its also a sad statement that the political leader of our country has the verbal ability of a turnip. Hatred has nothing to do with the absolute fact that the president makes verbal blunders time and time again. That's not the image that Americans want to display to the world. Yeah, our leader is a blundering monkey who can't string a coherent sentence together. Great image for us.

Aren't we supposed to present a strong image to the terrorists? Does having a monkey as our leader help our image?

There are so many really smart people in the USA, so why aren't ANY of them in office? :p, okya there are a few smarties in there but it still seems to be the economically elite that are calling the shots.

well the ancient greeks invented democracy, and the republic system we use it for now. (Sorry America,France had democracy before you, and they paid your freedom in french blood)

Plato said that if someone wanted to become a statesman he should attend the college teaching such things as economics and socialism but also the college would teach morality and ethics.
People who are rich should not run countries and people who are Smart are just second best.
Compasionate, wise and smart people are qualified to run countries.

For example in our world the state can take children away from their parents if just one man (or woman) has reason to say they're not good enough.
But millions of Americans and Europeans look at their leaders and know that they are not good enough and are helpless to stop the pattern of bad leadership.

Bad leadership in this case is simply not being good enough to benifit the whole country. I'm sure Bush has no intention of harming America deliberatly, he does what he thinks is best. But we aren't talking about Gym class here.
"Your Best" just isn't enough Bush!

Are you serious? I think someone's a little jealous...

And personally, I greatly respect the French. Without the French, I'd probably be sitting at a typewriter typing up the invoices I'm supposed to be doing right now, then going home to nibble on some crumpets for tea-time, and then watching a romping game of cricket or polo! Nothing against the British, but thank GOD for the French!

Hey, he doesn't just misspeak... his team can't proofread either.

Did everyone catch the fine print on that lame-assed loyalty oath that you need to sign before getting into one of Cheney's speeches?

"I, (full name) ... do herby (sic) endorse George W. Bush for reelection of the United States."

Herby? Wasn't he a volkswagon?

And what the hell is "reelection of the United States"?

I don't get the thing about typewriters and invoices but, I hate crumpets, polo is never televised and most people agree cricket is probably one of the most boring sports to watch in the world.

Plus, liking the french, you'd never make it in England. Not that you'd want to.

And, I know you didn't mean offense by your comments, but I just wanted to say that I hate America and personally believe George Bush to be really kind of crap as a president, he makes a hell of alot of slip ups. I don't like Tony Blair but he never makes mistakes like that, he just makes the country hate him, by beeing so dishonest.

thats a little, or maybe a lot, off topic.
PS, i'm english.

BTW, you ever hear of the speech Ronald Reagan made to put America on better terms with the Third World?

he began with "America has a lot to offer the third world war"
He repeated this error three more times during the speach.

I think Clinton is actually the smartest president yet. Still trust democracy?

Yes. Of course!!! At least Bush was honest about going to war because Iraq had WMD's...no wait..eeh...Oh yeah, Iraq was harboring terrorists.....he...uum...wanted to liberate the people!! Yes, thats it. Anyway, what Clinton did was far worse then destabilising an entire region. Geesh donĀ“t you know anything?
