In some countries all you have to do to become an cupple is to register it. In dose countries marrage is only an religious cermony dossent shange the legal protection one bit as long as your registerd as an cupple.

That was pretty much the point I was making. What if people choose to register as a couple, and then tack on a ceremony? That's marriage essentially.

Tack can mean a few things, but in this case s/he means to add. So the sentence would be restated as "What if people choose to register as a couple and add a ceremony?"

Well nothing in perticular happens. You have done an religious cermony. It´s something betvine you and your god nothing the state have anything to do whit. the law just recognise your registration not any folowing cermony

Marriage was just something intrduced by the church to keep society in order. If people were running around and sleeping with whoever they wanted and having kids all over the place then it would be difficult to control people.
