If all those stories from alien abductees are true then this raises the question: what the hell do the aliens with the HUGE eyes want from the human species?

It isn't the human species that they want to make contact with - it is the micro-organisms that live inside our digestive systems. Thus the fascination with bodily orrifices.

It's not that they are interesting to them (the aforemention big-eyed aliens), it is that the micro-organisms inside the aliens which are the brains behind the whole operation. What is commonly mistaken to be the ETI is just a biological vehicle for the microscopic invaders.

No... they are studying human reproduction in order to create an altered human genome that they can reproduce with. The DNA, the true life form that rides us as vehicles, are the microorganisms that they are expirimenting with.

As Goed says, there's a distinct possibility it's a bunch of wags "buzzing" the Earth, as suggested in The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. Go to a planet that hasn't made First Contact yet, find some fool in the middle of nowhere that no-one will believe and strut up and down in front of them making 'beep beep' noises.

I mean, Star Trek is so right on, surely any space-faring aliens have had something comparable in their culture, and the idea of the Prime Directive specifically. Anyway, if we brought aliens into the mix when we can't even deal with blacks, women and gays, it would be a volatile situation. I think any intelligent species would quarantine the planet until we grow up: remember that remark in MiB where K says that human though is so primitive its considered an infectious disease on some planets?
