I've recently encountered a lot of people on the forum who don't like Slipknot. So, I wanted to get a feel for what the forum as a whole thinks of them. I personally think they're a very good band.
5w33t. Who cares what other people think? They're pretty good, IMHO.
i heard of them before,
but have never listened to any of the music...
and i heard that one or two of the member is gonna get out of the band and join this other called "stonesour" or something like that... i'm not sure...

They did break up a few years back, but they're back together now.

stonesour is a solo-ish project for Corey Taylor, who's in Slipknot. it actually features melodies..
i've seen slipknot live. worst thing i've ever seen. give me a band who understands melodies, guitar leads, and singing (as opposed to "vocals")..

Slipknot is simply more modern musical trash; a medley of angry artists yelling nonsensical things into a crowd of raving lunatics.
Slipnot totally sux. A band is not a band when it sounds all the some doesn't mix..can't hear music. Music isn't just screaming and swearing. They suck and i wish they fall down in there house and land on toothpicks and get tiny cuts. Thats what i think of the god awful band.

The thing is, when you compare Slipknot to other thrash/deathmetal bands, they actully have clearer melodies than most of them.
anyways, people... everyone have a different taste,
so don't hate on slipknot.
be open-minded!

Yeah, by far. Corey is a great singer.
And you can't generalize Slipknot as "screaming and swearing." I'm almost positive their latest album has no swearing at all in it.
You could generalize every classic rock song as "singing and guitar playing."

It's got a little, but nowhere near the stuff on IOWA.

I remembering buying it and not seeing a "Parental Advisory" sticker. So I of course put that bastard back!
I don't buy music unless they swear!!!!1111onenoneone

i've said it in the other thread and i'll say it in this thread... (because I got no response in my thread)
What thrash metal and death metal bands have you listened to... pray tell...

The singer out of Slipknot went to rome to see The Pope
The singer out of Slipknot went to rome to see The Pope
The singer out of Slipknot went to rome to see The Pope
And The Pope said to his aide . .
Who the fucking hell are Slipknot?
Who the fucking hell are Slipknot?
Who the fucking hell are Slipknot?
In relation to me getting out of bed?
(Half Man Half Biscuit- Vatican Broadside)
(And when Slipknot are screaming and swearing they're not too bad. It's Corey Taylor's annoying "nu-metal" vocals that get to me. That's why Eyeless is by far their best song).
That's why Eyeless is by far their best song.
Definitely.

They are quite unspectacular. They are obviously not on the Limp Bizkit level of horror, but they're not anything special. As a drummer, I think a band with two percussionists should have alot better percussion lines. They should be doing Moby Dick-like back and forths between the two of them, but they really don't accomplish anything amazing. A resounding "meh".

Amerigo, sorry didn't see you ask that.
Throwdown
Hatebreed
Killswitch
Avenged Sevenfold
Cannibal Corpse
Sdaeriji, they actually have three percussionists.

Well no wonder! Hatebreed and Killswitch? They in my opinion are nothing great. Cannibal Corpse I can't say I like.
Listen to say Slayer, Testament, Metal Church and Anthrax. Um.... those are basically the ones off the top of my head. But I'll see if I can remember more speed and death metal that is actually really damn good.
I suppose Death and Six Feet Under are some death metal that are pretty good. Although, Death is much an acquired taste especially if you want melodies.

I hate Slipknot. I saw them on Jimmy Kimmel and all they did was scream things you couldn't even understand. I can't believe they have someone in their band whose purpose was to bang on a keg with a baseball bat. They suck, BIG TIME.

Yeah, I don't quite get why they have someone that just sits there and headbangs. When I saw them in concert the one guy headbanged on a set of drums. At least... he changes his locales.
Hatebreed is considered hardcore, I thought? Whatever they are, they're pure pooh. Me and my friend call it "Keith-Core." As in, their lyrics are about as good as a Toby Keith song.
People always talk about how uplifting and positive their songs are. They take any old positive statement and scream it 10 times. "STAND.. UP! FOR.. YOURSELF!"
We came up with a song they're sure to make soon.
"A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED! MUST.. SAVE.. YOUR.. PENNIES!"
Killswitch Engage though, I love them. As well as Avenged Sevenfold. Avenged Sevenfold sound nothing like Killswitch though. They sound kind of like In Flames at times but with more singing. I love Avenged Sevenfold more than the rest of them.

My friend I was in a band with (long time ago) who did vocals/guitar used to work with Corey. Never got to meet him myself though. Oh well...just felt like sharing
As for the band's music, I guess I'm just neutral. Don't mind listening to them, but not going to run out and buy a cd.

All I can say is, way too many people for one band.

You should ask the European crowd present at the Fury Fest edition of this year ... slipknot has been somewhat "lynched" there (piss filled bottles, dead rabbits and dustbins thrown on-stage) :)
I see Slipknot as a band of posers, no more, no less. I can't understand why when the USA has produced so many awesome bands, teenagers listen to this shit.

So it seems like this band has cauused a lot of mixed feelings with people here.
