First topic I've started. This family friend of mine has just revealed herself to be unimaginably bigoted, she hates all muslims. Her reasoning is that she is Hindu and there has always been a rift between Hindu's and Muslims. She is of Indian descent (born in Australia) and she also hates Pakistani's.

She almost refuses to discuss her views... Should I even bother trying to talk sense into her?

You don't have to cut of all contact with her, just let her know that you disapprove of her idiocy.

As for this bigot- don't even bother. See all those threads concerning homosexuality on this forum? Read through them and you'll have to conclude that the bigots of the world aren't here to be reasonable but to be a pain in the ass with their seemingly endless stupidity / prejudice. And I doubt she's any different from the bigots whose posts you can read in those gay threads. So, trying to reason with her would seem to me to be an utter waste of non-refundable time.
