The Village vs The Manchurian Candidate

Has anyone seen both of these movies? I work at a theater and most of the people who work there choose to go to the competing theater to watch The Village but I chose to see Manchu at our theater. I absolutely loved it, but everyone I've talked to that has seen The Village didn't like it. I also think that the only reason The Village made 50 mil to Manchu's 20 mil is because Village got a whole lot more attention. Anyway, opinions?

I only watched The Village. I liked it, except for the very end. Also, the music was very good, atmospheric.

I like how the last option has almost the most votes.

What a great forum... :x

Did Shymalan ruin another ending to a movie? He always does that.

I was watching Leno and he said there was some kind of big secret surprise in the movie? As I doubt I will see it can someone tell me what it is?

I haven't seen either, but I can't put the NORMAL answer down, now, can I? ;)

I want to see both movies, even though I've never seen any of Shymalan's movies, and I've never seen the original Manchurian Candidate, so I don't really know what to expect from either movie

However, since I have seen previews for both, I think that the last option was the most fitting for me. (I've seen part of both movies, but I completely hate Bush)

The Manchurian Candidate? The one with Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury?

Excellent. A classic. Remaking it would be like remaking Citizen Kane...oh wait.

I think if anyone bothers to go rent the original of this, they'll ruin the remake for good. Hell, same goes for The Stepford Wives.

Both originals are better. I guess it's because they are original, as opposed to someone coming up blank for new ideas, and stealing old ones.

Someones remaking Citizen Kane?!

I really want to see the remake of the Manchurian Candidate though. Not expecting it to be better then the original.

But I have never heard of the Village, what is the story line/plot/whatever?

By the way...before it happens, can I just say NO SPOILERS. If someone requests a plot line or synopsis, link them to a site that has it. Please don't post it here as I'd like to be surprised when I watch The Village.

The Village was a well directed movie, but the writing sucked. The plot was good up until the twist, which was delivered in a completely unsurprising and boring way, not to mention being really friggin easy to guess.

And yes, the twist is what you think.

If I didn't have rum with me, The Village would have been the most intolerable movie I've seen in a while. Who couldn't guess the plot after 20 minutes?? Well duh!! I yelled it out after 45 minutes when I was drunk and royally pissed off the people sitting next to me.
