Is the association between politicians and the luxury lifestyle bad?

When we think of Washington D.C., we often think of elegant black tie events with wine, gourmet food, etc. They enjoy luxury hotels, are members of prestigious golf clubs, etc. Politicians are inseperable from the rest of the High Society in the United States (Corporate elite, other wealthy elite, heads of international organizations, etc. etc.). The High Society of the United States is obviously "unified", as if it were a patrician class. They all mingle together at the same high society events, in the same golf clubs etc. Is there not something wrong with this? Is this not at least a bit bad? I have not really detailed my point here, but it is so glaringly obvious, such as the lifestyles of politicians, that I am sure others will further comment. It seems to be such a common fact as to be ignored, when it does affect our society in a major way.

It can be sometimes, yeah. It really depends on the politician and the type of luxury.
