You think?

It appears to be shoddy remake of a classic.

However, not having seen it, I am not exactly qualified to comment.

Actually it doesn't seem to bad, I really like Jon Voight and a few of the other actors in it. But I am alway suspicious of remakes of old films.

EDIT, Strangly enough, the quotation in my sig is from the original one.

Fine. But are we not allowed to give our (uninformed) opinions? Especially considering that you are posting on an international board with member from countries where it hasn't come out, making it impossible to have an imformed opinion.

Anyway, what is the point on posting an opinion and answering so tartily if others go against your view?

I would consider my opinion a highly qualified one as I do indeed work at a movie theater.

What's it about?
About America's enemies capturing a group of American soldiers, brainwashing them, and making one of them the perfect assasin to try and get one person to the top of political ladder.

This (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056218/) is the original one.

This is the new one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368008/)

I'm intrigued by it, I have to say. Part of me is very leery because I consider the original a true masterpiece--one of the five best of all time perhaps--and I feel like it's a version of repainting the Mona Lisa. But, if there were ever a time where the message of the original is applicable, it's now, so I want to see it. After all, the original deals with the idea that those who scream the loudest about patriotism are the nation's greatest enemies.

Your station does not nessesarily give you any more authority than an ordinary cinema goer or lover.

A job description doesn't give authority on the basis of the position. For example, I used to work at a mobile phone shop, this doesn't (or didn't) mean that I was anymore qualified that the customer in deciding what phone is best.

Please watch this version and tell me how they compare.

Movie of the year.

Love the original. I will see the remake this weekend and let ya know my opinion. I enjoy remakes/retellings and often try to think of them in terms of paying homage - though I've seen a couple of really bad remakes (like that horribly contrived piece of crap remake of Cape Fear that not even DeNero could salvage).

I will, however, as always give it a chance.

That's what I thought when I first saw the credit at the beginning. Not someone I really liked (not as a person, but as a singer), but he acted well in it.

My job status alone doesn't, but the fact that because I don't have to pay for movies, I get to see a lot of them and a lot of them multiple times. It only cost me gas money. Therefore, I've seen a lot of the movies that have come out this year and been able to compare this movie to essentially every other movie. I also get an oppurtunity to talk to movie-goers (as well as fellow employees who are in my situation).

Fine, but I think Shawn of the Dead is the best movie of the year.

I have yet to see the movie, though it looks like it might be really really good.

It reminds me of another book I read once, some of the stuff might have even been borrowed from this story in an attempt to update the storyline. The book is called "Interface" by Stephen Bury. It is an updated version of the manchurian canidate. I found it an excellent read. very informative about the media and the sway of corporations.

It kind of is except that the brainwashers are a lot more greedy...and the movie is much more serious and graphic...

Anarcho-communism at that. A hit for Letila.
