Something for the Brits...
With the United States gearing up for the election, I thought it might be interesting to see how the Brits on the forums will be voting in the UK general election, which, by the sounds of things, could have a date in May or June 2005.
Has PM Tony Blair got your vote, or will the revived Conservatives under Michael Howard get your support? Perhaps you're in favour of a Charles Kennedy premiership? Maybe you won't vote, or maybe you want another option...
...Let me know what you think!

Green. For want of a better option. The party I support are only standing for one seat this election. :(

I think its a case of voting for the lesser of the three evils....so Kennedy is my choice, not a bad guy that one...might change a bit when he gewts to office...if i had my way Boris Johnson would run the country.
I can't vote. (14) I would vote for, I don't know. Meh.

I don't think there are any republican candidates in my constituency

I reckon Labour will win but with a far smaller majority than the last general election. THe Conservatives should have this general election more than wrapped up, they should be celebrating months ago, but they havent. Why? I'm not to sure. They have been doing a whole lot of criticising the Labour government over healthcare, education and the War in Iraq but not a whole lot of letting the public know what policies they are for.
The Conservatives are still suffering slighlty from the days of Margaret Thatcher and John Major and even though the party has won back some credibility it hasnt shaken the stigma of completely of a untrustworrthy party.

Amen to that.
Actually I'll go with the guy who said Boris Johnson. He may be a Tory, but at least he'd give us a laugh

It's all very simple.
Blair is a conservative asshole, that took over the labour party. <EOF>
It strikes me that British politics has a really serious crisis at the moment but we just haven't had the courage to tackle it. With the Labour Party taking the Tories' old ground and with the Conservatives moving further to the Right to compensate for this, the voter doesn't have any "real choice".
At one time it was vote for the Conservatives who would defend tax cuts, free market economics and law and order whilst Labour would defend the NHS, nationalisation and the Unions. Now the ideological lines are so blurred voters aren't choosing who they "agree" with, but who they think will be the most competent politician. And I don't care what the Lib Dems think, they simply don't have sufficient concentrated regional support to enable them to gain more that 100 seats at the election.
In my opinion, 2005 will mark another Labour victory but with a significantly reduced majority, forcing Tony Blair (if he's still prime minister) to rely on the support of Scots and Welsh Labour MPs to pass legislation in the Commons. This will enable a stronger Tory opposition to criticise the by-products of devolution and cite a challenge to democracy, and thus will pave the way for an extensive period of Conservative rule.

I sure hope that neither the Tories nor Labour win. If I were British I'd vote for the Greens, Respect and the Liberal Democrats.

Oh, how I hope for the day the two main parties will be the Lib Dems and the Greens. Not that will ever happen.
Unless the Tories pull something impressive out of the bag I'll be voting LibDem, my area always comes out as either a LibDem or Tory seat, so it's a choice between those two.
I'm fairly sure that Labour will win, again, but hopefully with a small enough majority to make them listen to public opinion.
Mind you, if the Greens put in a candidate I'll vote for them, but that seems unlikely.

Ha! Aye, Boris would get my vote, he's so damn classic.
One of those Conservatives with heart, a very, very small minority:P
LIb Dems, lesser of 3 evils, they've got the right idea but are too damn nice and dont have the balls to become an opposition yet...
We got 2 main problems:
corruption of Labour into the sickening '3rd way', 'thatcherite worshiping' and media focused cinception of New LAbour {why it's got the old socialist name Labour i dont know...fool the w/c or something} This means we got Center Right and Center Right in the Commons:( New LAbour steal the Conservative stance and policys half the time so the Torys have nothing they CAN say, and the rest is frightning rubbish, check out 'How Mumbo-jumbo conquered the world'-Francis Ween, and how we slipped this way becomes clearer:(
Secondly, Apathy...getting roughly a 1/3 of the national vote isnt enough to rule over, Non-votes and spoit ballots should count as protest votes, if our turnout is getting as bad as HALF of the nation, then thats a massive disconection from politics, and a shambles of a system...
Our voting system is outdated and a joke to democracy anyway, otherwise the Lib Dems would have 1/5 of Commons seats at the mo. Bring on Scottish seperation, Proportional Representation and mabye a lil politicisation for the states of Britian.

I'd agree that Tony's pretty much got the election. Unless Boris runs. Then he ain't got a chance in hell.
