Convert me to your party
With all the talk about Bush going on I hardly hear anything about Kerry. Well what makes him so great a leader? What makes Bush so great a leader? Well I’m going to step aside and say only this. Whoever can do the best job of convincing me which candidate I should vote for will get my vote for that candidate. Not only that, but I will endorse their policies and verbally attack their opponent any chance I get. List as many good and bad qualities you want for any candidate you want in the US election. However if I so much as detect any hint of insincerity or BS I will just disregard the statement in question. I don’t want a flame war going on here so keep it civil. This is also more than just for me, this is also for anybody who doesn’t quite know who they’re going to vote in the upcoming election yet.
I could try to convince you to join the lib dems but your American so....

Bush has done alot for the economy since the attacks. Hes given tax breaks, hes improving educations, and health insurance-perscriptions. Hes taking out those terrorists. Reducing poverty. Improving nation security.
Kerry uses his "three purple hearts" like those are going to win his election. He lied about how he voted against a bill, then when he saw everyone agreed on it he said he voted for it. He uses botox (LOL, thats gonna get him the election)

Join the Collective for Responsible Hedonism. We are devoted to the pursuit of a hedonism that does not hurt others. We believe that we are not on this planet to work, we are here to make the most of our time: enjoy ourselves, make the best of our abilities, experience everything there is to experience. This doesn't need to come at the expense of others' peace of mind, however. Too often hedonism is regarded as innately detrimental to others; this is why we encourage sensitivity and empathy.
Do what you want, but do it with sensitivity!

Here are my reasons for voting for Kerry:
1. The Economy
With record defecit, we cannot afford to be spreading our military thin and then making up for it with unbridled spending. People attack Kerry for voting against the $87 billion bill that funded body armor and such for soldiers in Iraq. What most media and Kerry's attackers fail to mention is that Kerry did support the spending, but did not support increaing the defecit to do so. This is what produced the now famous quote "I was for it, before I was against it." In four years Bush has managed to turn a record surplus into a record defecit, Kerry will be more resposible with our nation's economy. Kerry has also promised to close tax loopholes that give breaaks to companies that outsource jobs to foreign nations. Bush has not handled this economic crisis responsibly, and has used fear to distract the people.
2. Terrorism
Kerry has promised to bring our allies back into the fold, and restore our respect in the world. If our allies become alienated, it is only a matter of time before they become hotbeds of anti-american frustrtation. Tony Blair may be our staunch ally, but his country is having doubts. Fundamentalism is not something that can be bombed out of existence, each bomb recruits more terrorists than it can kill. Our actions in Iraq are one of the most potent recruiting tools for terrorists. With the abuses at abu-gharib, we have lost the moral high-ground, and are losing the support of the world, unless we address the failure of command and that allowed the abuses to take place, and attempted to hide them form the world, we can never hope to repair the damage that was done.
3. Social programs
Kerry has addressed the healthcare crisis in this country, Bush has not in four years done anything more than pay lip-service. Kerry will better fund education, by reinstating funding for afterschool programs that were cut by Bush. For specifics of Kerry's plan, look at his website: http://www.johnkerry.com.
4. Energy Independance
Kerry will invest in alternative energy souces so that we can wean the country off of Saudi oil. Bush has not give any incentives for companies to research new more-efficient technologies. Kerry promises to invest in alternative and renewable energy sources. Kerry will also give incentives for energy-conservation, such as clean and fuel-efficient cars.
5. Stem cell research and science in general
Kerry will life the federal spending ban on stem cell research. This is because Kerrry care more about scientific and medical advances than about hollow rhetoric. Bush has repeatedly ignored the opinions of science in favor of his own brand of science, for more information see this House of Representatives website:
http://www.house.gov/reform/min/politicsandscience/
These are just the main issues in my mind, there are many more that I believe Kerry has a better stance on than the current president, but there are more, I just am too lazy to type them up. A lot of people think that democrats are just voting against Bush and not for Kerry, but I am voting because I support Kerry's views on the issues, and i am disgusted with the brand of politics practiced by the Bush administration, fear and hate are not unifying ideals, this administration has used the threat of terrorism for political purposes, (the recent announcement of a threat to the election, for example) and has scared the populace into complacency. Complacency is not what this country was founded on, this country was founded on the idea that dissent is what keeps the establisment on its toes, and without the loyal opposition our system collapses. I will end wiht some quotes from the founding fathers.
"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."
- President Thomas Jefferson
"A President is impeachable if he attempts to subvert the Constitution".
-- President James Madison
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither."
- Ben Franklin
"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
- Samuel Adams

Bush has done alot for the economy since the attacks.
Of course, like turning a $236 billion surplus into a $500 billion deficit...
Someone should try to explain to Bush that giving tax cuts to the rich does not, in fact, help the economy. It's been proven time and time again, but some people don't seem to care about those nasty things called facts.

Bush is anti gay marriage, Kerry is for civil unions.

Ever considered doing stand up comedy? You seem to have a talent for it. :)
Seriously, you are talking about Bush the coloured Soul Singer, right? The one who died in 1897 in New Orleans? Yeah, must be, because that sure as hell doesn't sound like anything G.W. Bush did!! He did wave at a blind man though. Which kinda denotes his sharp intelligence, doesn't it? :D
...
Exactly the kind of stuff that I was looking for. Very informative.
Anybody care to add anything else?
A vote for Ralph Nader is a vote to invest in your future, your children's future, and your grandchildren's future. Ralph Nader will not trash the earth like some of the other parties. He is committed to making sure your grandchildren will be able to see a tree in a place other than a tree museum, and to be able to breathe without choking.

George W. Bush is a miserable failure of a president. And this is not just a liberal rant. I will describe in concise terms why I believe this to be the case:
Bush has not captured Osama Bin Laden, nor has he destroyed the Al-Qaida network. Indeed, his invasion of Iraq seems to have completely overshadowed the original focus of this war on terrorism, which was to defeat terrorists.
Bush's invasion of Iraq has diverted precious resources from U.S. operations in Afghanistan, with the net result that -neither- counntry is stable or secure. The Taliban and their Al-Qaida allies remain at large, their leader Mullah Omar remains outside of U.S. custody.
Bush has not found the weapons of mass destruction he claimed were hiding in Iraq. The WMD threat was the principle justification for our war in Iraq.
Last year observed a tremendous spike in terrorist attacks around the globe. If the War on Terror was designed to shut down terrorist activities, it has clearly failed.
Bush's unilateral action in Iraq has completely squandered the goodwill earned for the United States after September 11. Even our closest European allies are unwilling to cooperate with us at this moment in time. Anti-American sentiment is running at an all-time high, both in Europe and around the globe.
Bush's economic policies have been a dismal failure. While CEO/Executive pay rose by an astonishing 23% last year alone, the average American is feeling the squeeze. Bush has lost over a million jobs since taking office, and the jobs he claims to be creating as replacements are "McJobs" that pay an average of $9000 less per year than previous jobs.
Bush has refused to make any attempt to reign in the export of U.S. jobs overseas. Indeed, his government actually came out publicly and said the export of U.S. jobs was a GOOD thing for U.S. workers at one point.
In order to satisfy his corporate donors, Bush has made the import of prescription drugs from Canada illegal, driving the prices up and forcing seniors to choose between food and life-saving medicine. At the same time, Bush has utterly failed to provide a solution for the health care crisis gripping this country. Millions of Americans have LOST their health insurance under Bush's term, and he has done nothing to stop it.
Bush has savaged civil rights, claiming the right to hold American citizens suspected of terrorist sympathies indefinitely, without charge, and without access to legal counsel. He has claimed the right to inspect the most intimate details of our lives, such as what books we read at the library. Wearing his religion on his sleeve, Bush has tried time and time again to batter down the wall between church and state, conveniently ignoring the U.S. Constitution.
Bush has been an environmental disaster for America. He has withdrawn us from the Kyoto Treaty, weakened the Clean Air Act, and cut the EPA's budget. He has slashed funding for alternative energy resources, instead proposing to drill in national parks for relatively small amounts of oil. If we cannot drink the water or breathe the air, what good is all the other stuff??
Sorry, I just about ranted out there. I could say more, but I'm tired.
