Question about John Edwards/John Kerry
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not start up a debate! For some odd reason, many of my threads turn into hellish domains of pure weirdos spewing weirdo crap out of their mouths after I tell em to not bother to debate.
And if this topic gets past 1 page, you know how it's gonna get.
Basically, say the John/John campaign doesn't make it to the White House. I hear that John Edwards and John Kerry "gave up" their current jobs in an elected position to run for Presidential nomination (along with Howard Dean, Dick Geph, etc.). Will they really lose their jobs?
And what is Al Gore doing right now?

Well if they're up for re-election for their Congressional seats and they aren't rerunning for those seats because their running for President/VP, then they won't be on the ballot for their current seats and most likely won't be reelected.

Getting paid by the Democrats to make speeches. He was a Vice President after all...he'll probably have a book soon... "His Life - A Biography about Bill Clinton by his second-hand man, Al Gore."

I think a better question might be......what is George Bush going to do when he gets retired by the voters?
That would also apply to Cheney, and I do believe Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz will get one way tickets to any Arab nation?

My guess is that Edwards would probably go back to practicing law since he isn't running for re-election to the Senate. Kerry's term isn't up, so unless he resigns his Senate position before the election--and I think he will; there are some logistical matters to handle--he could conceivably go back to the Senate. I doubt he would, however. Most presidential candidates who swing and miss just retire into private life, make some speeches, make some Viagra commercials (okay, that's just Bob Dole), write a book or two, and move on with life.
