outcast/goth/nerd
I come from Englandand go to an all girls school. So all there is really is chavs and normal people and a few goth-y people. Oh, and Yr 7's.
I'm classified as "That Guy Over There."

I had too much sex and partying to be a geek/dork, I dressed too casual for preps, I wasn't as athletic as the jocks, I dressed too polychromatically and wasn't angsty enough for goths, and well, just didnt seem to fit into any of those categories. Hence I was "Other." That was for sure.

Preps and Jocks aren't the same thing, and nor are Geeks and Dorks the same, and Nerds isn't on the list anywhere. :/
At my school we have normal people, Goths and Segue Kids (Fake Goths) also a large portion of my friends are the types of people who know how to do some pretty crazy stuff with computers but aren't nerds. (They have sex with attractive women) I'm just your normal guy.

I was a geek, but I'm a geek now too. Only now it matters not at all. I think High School is a nightmare no matter what social circles you move in.

By number of people I had as kind of friends, I would be considered popular. However I don't hang out with that specific group.
I hang out with everyone. Nerds, jocks, preps, gangstas, potheads. Anybody.
I was a Punk Rocker back in the ol' days when I was in high school. :D
Who here is (was) a band geek?
*raises hand*
I was a dork, but not to the point of being in some kinda group for it.
I was just...me. I'm weird enough to pull it off :p

I was in a class all of my own.
But if you must, I was the weird geeky kid that nobody talked to unless they wanted to know something/I spoke first and the felt the need to slap me down. Probably a bit of goth thrown in somewhere too.

Well being 41, I was the "first crop" of them. It's back in the days that when you were a punk, you were treated like shit everywhere you went. The cops would harrass you, ethnic minorities, rich prep kids did as well. Nobody liked you. And everyone stayed away from you. The only places that excepted us was Army surplus stores, Second hand clothing outlets, and grimy dives :D
But hey! It was fun! :D

Personally, I didn't really have a group. I was the one everyone hated. But... I'm a bit of a computer geek, I suppose. Except I do the London To Brighton Bike Ride every year, I train at martial arts... I sail... hmm... what the hell am I?

Being 32 I'm not exactly old school, but I certainly have a couple more scars than the current crop of today (bless 'em). Being from Belfast and discovering punk rock after the initial 78-81 scene had died down my experiences wereprobably pretty much the same as yours I guess - for cops substitute British Army (and the cops), for ethnic minorities substitute Protestant/Catholic hoods and for rich kids read... well rich kids. I think it would be safe to say that the amount of harassment would have been much more so when punk first broke though.
It still is fun - even if actually looking like a punk is now too much effort.

If by "london to brighton bike ride" you are refering to being on a scooter I would guess mod, possibly skinhead or soulboy, but you probably mean pushbike...

I used to feel sorry that I missed punk when it first happened, but then realised I could listen to all the music from then, and the music since then. Yeah, it would have been nice to have seen a lot of those bands when they were young and thin and angry, but you can't have everything.
Dig deeper into it and discover the international hardcore DIY underground and get involved. It's still there and still incredible.

How exactly is listening to Tragedy, for example, harder work than listening to Rancid? If you haven't learnt the lesson that what you get out of the things you love is directly proportional to the effort that you put into them, then you have missed one of the most empowering factors of punk rock. Why buy overpriced band logo t-shirts produced in sweat shops in south-east Asia supporting major label rock stars when you can produce your own with a felt tip or a spray can? Why pay money for a soulless CD spat out from Warner Brothers and sold at Tower Records when you could buy a small run release from a band that finance their own recordings and call their own shots and passionately believe in what they are doing rather than what their accountant or manager tells them? Why get treated to shitty conditions and being treated like cattle at the big venue shows when you can put on your own in small venues which actually have an atmosphere and a sense of community and actually allow you to see the band as something other than little ants crawling about in the distance? I could go on all night...
How hard is it to type in www.profaneexistence.com instead of www.majorlabelsoullesspopbollocks.com?
Punk rock and hardcore are what you make of them.
Input no effort and receive no rewards.

However I was tall(ish), and fast enough on my feet to be good at some sports. I just wasn't very interested.
I just liked to read, and only geeks do that!

meh, I'm the "smart quiet commie in the corner kid." But it really depends on what classes (have more freinds/enemies in some classes than others)
Well, i run on cross country and track and all, and i'll get a letter soon. (jock?)
And I play sax in jazz band. (geek?)
I have long hair and everyone says i look and act like a pothead skater, but I don't skate. (skater?)
I have friends in the jock group, skater group, and a few band geek friends. (popular?)
I play NS alot. (geek?)
And I don't get made fun of much, but to be honest, I make fun of a lot of people. (popular?)
I hate learning so I guess i wouldn't be considered a nerd.
I guess i'm not really in any group. Except I could definately say I'm not in the ghetto gangsta group, or the goth group, or the really really nerdy outcast group.
I was a rule obsessed, too hardworking, perfectionist kid with little friends.
Now I'm a rule obsessed, too hardworking, perfectionist man with little friends.

By 'little friends' do you mean 'few friends' or 'midget/dwarf friends'? The public wants to know.

I was a bit of a group slut,
I would change groups as I saw fit, I would get bored with the popular people because they were fairly shallow, I would get bored with the geeks because they would never relax and have some fun, Im not very athletic so I got bored with the 'jocks' cause they were always competing and couldnt just have a fun game. we didnt really have goths or punks in my day. High school was some of the best fun I have had, but as I always drifted I was really just aquainted with everyone but I really didnt have any close friends
This poll is fundamnetally flawed. Take it from someone currenly entering thier sophmore year of high school that these groups are not as divided as everyone thinks. You can be a member of more than one. Plus Jock and prep are totally different "classes". You should also use the word category. 'Class' implies that one is better than the other when they are really all relative. Finally, you can't decide what 'class' to place yourself in. It is for the people around you to decide, like a knickname.
Other - The school paper is almost a clique/cult of its own, and I'm happy to be part of it
No offense to you, but I hate our school paper. They're just a bunch of preps. Their stories are crap, the issues are pointless, the pictures are only of the most popular preps, and to top it off, it's just made poorly. It'll just cut off mid-sentence.
