So, has anybody dared to step out of the security and safety of the NS forums and realised that there is a world out there?
Who's posted on the non-NS jolt forums? Have you done it regularly and where did you post?

I tried... those people are mean... they make fun of us...
We are the nerds/outcasts of the Jolt forums.
i've tried the spam forum...it's ok...i survived the experience
haven't plucked up courage to get any further though
Pfft. Don't associate with them outsiders, they're all weird like. lol :D
heheh! i started Prue's spam cafe and bar...
there's a few people around who are ok...so far it hasn't been as bad as some people said.
some of the spam threads are boring because there's nothing to them...not like the forum 7 stuff

I've posted in general and technical once or twice, and occassionally peek over 'the wall' and have a look at what they're doing.
An expedition, eh?
*starts packing a basket*
Hmmm... picnic ham, baguettes, 9mm Glock, dill pickles, blocks of assorted cheese, hand grenades, a nice chianti, roast beef...

An expedition, eh?
What we will need is two teams of experienced climbers working in shifts, who will tackle the lower slopes of the jolt forums, and set up a sequence of camps in the individual sub-fora. A crack team of flame-hardened veterans are required for the final assault on the summit.
If we estimate four posters to a team (tied together with rope, obviously), and three teams, then we will have twelve people. These people will need supplies, and so some porters are also needed. One porter should be able to carry enough food and water for three people, so we will need four porters. These four porters will also need to be supported, so we will add another porter carrying supplies for three of them. That just leaves two porters to be looked after. A small boy should be able to carry supplies sufficient for two men. The small boy will be assumed to subsist by eating lichen or small bugs that he finds under rocks.
So what else will we need? Ice axes, plenty of rope, tents, cooking equipment, some more rope, crampons, pitons, fuel for the stove, another bit of rope, medical supplies in case of emergency, oxygen tanks, yet more rope, and a grand piano to keep up team morale. Mustn't forget a flag - that would be somewhat embarassing, to complete the final assault on the summit and find ourselves having to improvise a flag out of bits of wire and string.
It might make sense to carry out a couple of recces on the jolt foothills, as the likelihood of being able to employ a native guide is probably slim at best.
So, do we bring horses or dogs?
Edit: 'improvISe' not 'improve'

Good point. What do they taste like, and how much meat is there on them?
Should we go the direct route - tackling the north face, as it were - and just strike out to the forum listed above us, and then the next and so on (using strictly on-topic posts at all times as pitons to hold our ropes), or should we go the scenic route?
The direct route seems plausible:
general discussion <--- the giddy heights of the summit
Arcade
Chat <--- low lying clouds
Serious Discussions
general humour <--- nearly there
technical
suggestions & ideas
jolt downloads <--- treacherous overhang
for sale
lan events <--- the treeline
spam
Web Design and Development
Retro Gaming <--- snow above this level
Movies
Books
Sports <--- could be rocky
Music
The ModFathers.com <--- the foothills
"The Modfathers.com" sounds like it could have hostile natives inhabiting it. It may make more sense to set up our base camp on the grassy slopes of the "Music" forum.

Alrighty. Off to set up a base camp in music...

Maybe we should set up a thread here on our home turf in NS General first and see if we can gather up a few hands to help out. We should be able to decide when we have secured the ropes leading to the next forum there.
Strictly on topic posting ettiquette to be enforced at all times.

Posted around quite a bit, mostly on Spam, but also in the Music, Books and General Humour forums. The latter are a bit slow, so the going should be relatively good. General Humour may well make a good second base camp - good, level ground with plenty of shelter and clean running water.
....well, running water. The Spam forum, however should not, repeat NOT be attemped by ameteurs. Terrain is hazardous at best and the natives are quite hostile, tho mostly their bark is worse than their bite. If we have the right team it shouldn't be too difficult.
As for General Discussion ... Obscured By Clouds

The clue is in the title: "Fictional bands" - those bands which only exist in fiction.
It appears that Conceptualists has gone out to do some scouting around of the higher slopes.

As you will see from the thread several fictional bands have made a seamless transition to reality - Spinal Tap, The Monkees, The Rutles, Bad News, etc.
