Aeon Flux

Lotta people out there seem not to like Chung's visual styles, but when I first saw Aeon Flux on MTV I just thought the show was weird and oddly interesting. The general lack of dialogue made the plots more involving, because there was always some purpose going down.

And now that I think about it, I like odd not-sexy cartoons over other styles. I don't know why people have to have everything they watch be sexy. I liked Aeon because she kicked ass, was very motivated, and somehow her lack of giant boobs and soft, grotesquely childlike anime sexiness made her in a way, actually kinda sexy. And remember that episode where they were taking some spinal implant out and manipulating the cord with fingers and getting off on it? Kinky. Gimme that over stereotypically uberfeminine-yet-somehow-asskicking anyday!

I saw a few minutes of one episode and didn't like the style at all.

What kind of anime lacks characters like this?:

You know, I was simply too young to watch that show I guess. I couldn't get into it at all, and I was still wondering/worried if my parents would catch me watching it every time I had it on. Being 13 really limited my viewing time back then. ;)

I managed to catch some episodes of "The Maxx" which was on somewhat later, what little I saw intrigued me mightly. Anyone know if all those old MTV anime-esque shows are available on the net or something? I'm really interested in finding it.

I just remembered something I saw once or twice on MTV way back then, it was a music video set to Cake's "He's going the Distance" song, with a very unusual visual style...similar, I think, to the other shows. Anyone know something about it?

Argh, I hate Aeon Flux. The animation style makes me ill and the dialogue makes me want to stab my eardrums with a toothpick.

I'm a big fan of Aeon Flux, and I do not like most anime. I also think the characters are well fleshed out in general - well two are at least.

Aeon Flux was fantastic. I loved the characters, and how they were rather complicated (as were the plots). The art style wasn't for everyone, but those how liked it didso a lot.
The goverment in the series was really interesting too, though you never got to see much of it. It kinda reminded me of Oceania from 1984 in a way, but much cooler.

Till they bring it out on DVD for region 4 I'll just watch it all on DivX though. I've seen them all so many times I'm practically an Aeon Flux expert ^^

Did anyone see Peter Chungs very AeonFluxesque piece that he did for the Animatix?

I once had the experience of being in that almost asleep/don’t know if I’m dreaming state the first time I got to watch that show. Needless to say that the entire experience was really freaky. I didn’t get to watch it again for quite some time. But when I did it was the same damn episode. Which freaked me out even more. I only got to see a few other episodes, but what I saw was all great.
