America should leave the UN for the simple reason that the UN hates America. The UN is useless all they do is pass resolutions that no one follows and take money from projects to their own pockets.

If the world hates us so much, I say sure. Let's give them what they like and stop interacting with them.

If the US were to leave the UN, It would be for the good of the UN, not the US. But I think they should leave the UN intill Bush is out of office.

It would not hurt the US any at all, and it would hurt the UN badly because the US give the UN more support than any other country.

We shouldn't. Last time we were isolationist two world wars broke out.

And they hate us because we're the only ones to hate right now. They blame things on us because we are involved and not sitting idly by while the world decends into chaos, instead of looking to see what they should be doing, they look at us and nitpick.

No, the main reason is they are jealous of our power and influence. But the war in Iraq was somthing that had to be done for the security of the United States.

Of course we should leave the UN. It is a corrupt organization. Oil-for-food? And all it does is pass resolutions that no one follows except for us, and even when we do follow the resolutions, the world is pissed at us (Iraq - 17 resolutions).

The UN uses the US as a pawn, we fund it and carry out its resolutions. It is a body whereby lesser countries can gain power over US foreign policy. We should stop funding it entirely, it belongs in Amsterdam or Geneva. The UN has no purpose and just fights against the US, is there any reason not to leave?

The UN is composed of virtually every nation on Earth, among them the poor, corrupt, tinpot regimes of Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia.

We are rich. They are poor.
Many, if not most, are dictatorships.
If they have democracy, it is of a limited variety.
Many are socialist, backward, fundamentalist, or headed by insane huntas.
They want to be powerful, and are not. Naturally, they covet real power.
Our nemises in the world do nothing but fan the flames, hoping to gain more power.
Different cultures.

I voted that we should stay. The UN is, fundamentally, a good organization. But: its memebership should be limited to free market democratic countries. It should not have the power to take away rights, only give.

Remember, parts of the UN like UNICEF have done worlds of good. OUr exit would cause the entire thing to crumble. We are sovreign, but also a part of the world.

Yes, thats about the way it is. But their is only 1 country that could start a world war now without immediatly being crushed by the US and that is China. So it would be simpler to just leave the UN and their corruption.
