If your a Communist or part of certian other groups, this isn't difficult. But who is the originator of neo-conservativism, for example? I want to hear who people believe is their founding father, the man (or woman) who first devoloped their political veiws.
Being a utilitarian liberal socialist, I'm not sure, but I might say (God I can't remember his name now...)
I think the father of neo-conservatism would be whoever took the party over after nixon, which would be the fundamentalist chrisitans and the corporations of America. Ronald Regan was their puppet.
Clarification: I am a liberal libertarian isolationist

*Isn't an isolationist veiw different from a liberal view? Liberals would advocate the use of foriegn aid and avoiding war when possible.
My own personal beliefs:
Tommy Douglas.
Of course, there were those before him (J.S. Woodsworth, etc.) but I consider him the father of my political beliefs.
Also: Jack Layton.

I believe in limited Foreign aid, and the use of war if all else fails.
I am isolationist in thinking that whats sold in america should be made in America. Thats what I try to do in RL.
John Stuart Mill I suppose, for his essay on liberty (cleverly entitled "On Liberty")

I believe that we should declare an "internation minimum wage" and convince all of our allies to place oppresive tarriffs and restrictions on all products produced by workers who are below that standard, as well as those unable to unionize, child workers, slaves, and others we deem unacceptable.

Hmm, there is a new book out you should read on Globalization if your intellectually inspired...demonstrates the pit falls of anti-globalization ideas and the problems with globalization in terms of nation states...
Oh, and I don't have a poltical guru or father/mother. I've rejected too much of various politcal philosophies as disproven theory or papering over the inherent cracks.
P.S. note: Strangely the U.S. rate of Manufacturing Jobs lost equaled the world rate (a loss of 11%) while China lost (yes lost) 14%...
I found that reading the latest Forign Affairs...quite intresting don't you think?

That's becuase people assume that China is still the manfacturing center of the world, when really other nations are taking it up.

Funny, most libertarians say that liberalism was origionally libertarianism.
Also: Jack Layton.
BURN HIM [not Temme].
I find that guy pretty arrogant and dull to the head. Come on he has Glen Clark's moustache!
Whoever the creator of the Canadian Reform Party is.

Are you kidding? Jack Layton is like the coolest ever. And do you mean Preston Manning or someone else?
Preston Manning. I really don't like Layton nor do I like Martin they both remind me of something. Rats.
A rat?
Well, the Paul Martin comparison I can see. But Jack Layton? Of course not. Jack Layton is no more a rat than I am a newborn.

In answer to the question posed by the title of this thread, I think that the person who comes closest to having been the "father" of my "political group" is John Locke. He is followed closely by Adam Smith.

Libertarian?
That seems to be really popular these days. Its better than strict conservatism, I guess.
Fine then Layton is a farret.

I agree with this too, but they still take our jobs.
Jack Layton is a cat.
BTW, I am definitely a cat person. I like cats. Cats are cool.
