The Big Bush Blunder?

Which war, I guess. There are so many to chose from at present.

Afghanistan
The War on Terror
The War on Drugs
The War on Poverty
Iraq
Sudan
Whatever the Russians are doing in Chechnya

These are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head. :(

if you are talking about the War on Terrorism...

I would chose a differant name, the War on Terrorism sounds too much like the War on Drugs, which can never be won by police and military force.

If you are talking about Operation Iraqi Freedom...
I would call it The Liberation of Iraq.

I prefer negative names, so War on Islam is a nice name for me. Just like how I call the abortion issues Anti-Life and Anti-Choice.

For positive connotations, War on Terrorism: Iraqi Theater, though Iraq wasn't actually terrorist per se. Maybe Iraqi War, then, following tradition of Vietnam and Korea.

OK, to clarify for those too thick to work it out from the poll options, I'm talking about the military operation named 'Operation Iraqi Freedom'. I know it's officially ended, but... you know what I mean.

War? What war? The US doesn't engage in warfare!

Here's my take:

Operation Liberating Iraqis By Killing Them, Taking Over Their Government, And Occupying Their Country For A Few Years

Operation We Come In Peace, We Leave Them In Pieces

I'd name it Gulf War II. The Vietnam war was officially 'Operation Carolina Moon', but who calls it that? However, I'd include it in the War on Terror, because it's part of it now.

our troops during the Balikatan exercises have actually fought against Islamic insurgants in the Philippines. I believe a few Marines and Army and Air Force Spec Ops guys have been killed in the Philippines. An Air Force helo crash comes to mind that was brought down my enemy fire.

Next up will be sudan and Iran. And we're fucking with china/taiwan conflict to. I'm leaning against this shit man I say we knock it off I hope to god the iranians and sudanese finally overthrow there governments. And as for china and its great economic status you know the boom well its gonna bust. However we don't necessarily need to get involved or not to much so.

Afghanistan is still ongoing but you don't hear much about it I say we get out as we should have long ago. Same with Iraq now rather than later like we've already done with afghanistan. And from here out we just you know defend ourselves and quite messing with shit.

The current engagement against Iraq is just the final chapters of the original Gulf War.
A war is ended by both sides signing a formal peace treaty, no such agreement was reached with Iraq. A ceasefire agreement (in which both sides agree to a temporary abatement of hostilities, generally to allow them to come together to develop an official peace treaty) was teached (though it was frequently violated) and Iraq agreed to follow with U.N. sanctions (which also were frequently violated).

Sorry for applying logic, ruining your Bush Bashing party, and eliminating the point of your oh-so-witty name mockery. You can all make fun of my name if it makes you feel better.

Actually, he's for it.

Weak-willed as in 'I'm so weak-willed I'll escape the draft by defending the skys of some god-forsaken state which no one would ever bother to fly over' or weak-willed as in 'I'm so weak-willed I'll go out and fight the Viet-Cong, then actually stick up for my beliefs that the war is wrong despite the view of the moral majority'?

As a European, I should keep out of this. But as a European, I'd hope I could objectively judge who is a good, brave man and who is a pathetic snivelling greedy puppet.

For god's sake, America, have some balls. You go on about having guns to overthrow an oppressive regime, but when someone actually does over-ride democracy, you bloody love it. You realise if it'd happened in France Paris would have been ablaze within hours, if it'd happened in Spain armed gunmen would have taken to the hills and if it happened here in England, well, gosh, we'd have had some pretty strong words to say about it, I should tell you.
