Maybe, just maybe, the flaw is with the regan-esque economic policies that, despite being hugely flawed, have been re-introduced in the past 4 years

Maybe, just maybe, you could get your own ideas instead of re-iterating what your Talkshow host god tells you.

I don't know it has ever been thoroughly proven if either the Democrat or the Republican economic policies have a positive or a negative effect on the economy. I wouldn't be surprised if the economy can be steered only very little.

I am going to blame the corrupt corporations that decieved investors and layed off employees to create a short-term profit. And then the terrorist attacks certainly shook consumer confidence further. And so far the Bush economic policies have not done much to strengthen the economy, nor has the war in Iraq.

You can't blame the bad economy on a single one of the options. The attacks on the WTC caused a great deal of fear and brought down a lot of companies that had offices in it. Anyone who says the terrorists are not to blame for the bad economy is wrong, yet eventually, fear passes and the companies recover. The fact that things still aren't wonderful lies in the fundamental problems of US labor policies, and while Bush and Clinton are to blame for these, they aren't the only ones.

I say Hackysackinstan wins.

I'd also point out that starting a big, expensive war and cutting taxes at the same time is a bad idea. Republicans talk a lot about fiscal responsibility, but they're full of shit.

Umm, how did anything MKULTRA said imply anarchism? If anything, higher taxes --> bigger government --> not anarchist.

The Democrats get blamed a lot, particularly Clinton. Reaganomists love to credit Reagan with the prosperity of the Clinton years and blame Clinton for the current mound of feces we're submerged in by any means possible.

Republicans get blamed a lot too (though not as much), but it's deserved. Republicans love to spend, spend, spend and cut, cut, cut taxes.

terrorists cant be an easy blame for a slumping economy. Any financial loss the US economy has suffered must be at least offset by the profits US economy has/is making from Afghan/Iraq wars and rebuilding programs.

History suggests after a period of sustained economic boom, there is always a economic bust or decline. Economies are cyclical. Very few govnts have ever broke the cycle. US has had its boom.....

I disagree that a bad economy results from US labor policies. US labor policies are indeed to blame for the disgusting levels of socioeconomic stratification we have, but "bad economy" is too vague a phrase to blame on something as specific as US labor policies. The combination of de facto serfdom and outright debt slavery upon which our economy rests keeps it going and keeps the real GDP per capita growing, which of course neolibs love to claim is good for everybody, but in fact is great for those who are already very rich and very bad for those who are already poor, e. g., slaves in California and Florida.

Also, I wouldn't tend to blame Clinton. Although a lot of horrible welfare reform occurred while he was president, it's really the vast right-wing conspiracy that was behind that. Congress was full of Reaganites during the Clinton years, and he had to work with them to get things he wanted, like health care.
