Ever hear of a mastectomy?...breast cancer hits military women, just like civilian women, there is also a little know genetic flaw where one breast might be smaller or larger then the other one...of course there are military wives who have implants due to pregnancy conditions..

As for plastic surgery for men...our men are coming back with burnt faces, disfigured bodies, ideal candidates for plastic surgery...

Those in the military get practically every other procedure free of charge, why not plastic surgery?

CNN Report: Bigger breasts offered as perk to soldiers

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The U.S. Army has long lured recruits with the slogan "Be All You Can Be," but now soldiers can receive breast enlargements, on the taxpayers' dime.

The New Yorker magazine reports in its July 26th edition that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free -- something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills.

Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and 1,361 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said.

U.S. Army Offers Breast Implants as Incentive
The U.S. Army is known for its recruiting slogan "Be All You Can Be," But now, according to The New Yorker magazine, the military is offering a new incentive. Soldiers and their families can receive plastic surgery, including breast enlargements, funded by US taxpayers.

In its July 26th edition, the New Yorker reports that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get face-lifts, breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free -- something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills. Dr. Bob Lyons, chief of plastic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio told the magazine "Anyone wearing a uniform is eligible." Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and more than 1,300 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said. The magazine quoted an Army spokeswoman as saying, "the surgeons have to have someone to practice on."

I seen the same news item, it's not just for them, they can also get it for any of their family members. Like, wife, daughter, son, etc. Not their third cousin twice removed though..lol

I bet those dudes and dudettes in Iraq would prefer body Armour and bullets though..

Steph...the media may only report on breast implants..but the idea is that military personnel can receive cosmetic surgery...it's no longer an elective, before the military wouldn't pay for it...but there are men coming back from Iraq with burnt faces, jaws destroyed..eyes destroyed...the cosmetic surgeries are needed to get these men and women their lives back.

As for women military personnel or dependents and breast implants..I'm sure you Steph as a woman might see the need post breast cancer surgery?..or one breast larger or smaller then the other as a genetic flaw?

Its obvious that the future of land warfare belongs not to the best trained or best equipped troops, but those with the biggest gazongas. The US Army recently scrapped development of it's "Land Warrior" infantry system in favour of breast enhanced troops. Dolly Parton, Pamela Anderson and Wendy Whoppers were recently flown to Fort Bragg as advisors.

What?? I live on an air base with my dad and i have lived on army bases. I volenter in the hospitals and help medical students run errends. These articals are twisting the truth. Sure if a family member whats breast ogmentation or other cosmetic surgeries they can recive them at the base/post hospitals. And yes they are paying with tax payers money but that money is their spouses income. Only corrective surguries are offered. My brother was offered with corrective surgery to remove a scar from a birth defect (clef lip and plate).

Why?...they are sacrificing part of their live to serve...you sacrifice and serve and you'll get the same consideration...we have troops coming back from Iraq that are burned...disfigured due to combat..cosmetic surgery is more then just breast implants..it's bout giving a wounded servicemember the ability to rehabilitate him/herself.

but on tv they said that they were giving a bit more that. I mean they already pay for what happens to them like when they get burned. the whole reason they were making a big deal about it was because they were gunna do nose jobs and stuff like that for free. even if it didn't happen in war. or they just don't like themselves

Precisely. Free cosmetic surgery to correct scarring - especially if incurred in the course of duty is one thing. Elective cosmetic surgery to "correct" the appearance a person was born with is another. If the military wants to waive the surgeon's fees to let them "practice" that is okay. However the costs of equipment, etc should still have to be paid for by the person recieving the purely elective surgery.

Why?...those who serve get free medical care, why should elective surgery be any different?...get a cold..go to sickbay..arm broke during softball, go to the sickbay or naval hospital to get it set...childbirth, your wife or if your a female servicemember go to the naval hospital..your medical care is free on any us military base...why should elective surgery be any different?

I agree on the aspect that certainly cosmetic surgery should be ordinarily reserved for injuries sustained while in the course of duty...but I fail to see if our medical care is free..why should I pay for any of it?
