Why do conservatives on this forum (not all) seem to have this burning desire to label democrats and liberals with slurs.
I've heard
libs
demopussies
democraps
demowhores
tree-hugging hippies (not even close to true mind you)
pansies
anti-americans

You do realise it only makes you sound like a complete idiot.
To those conservatives who have managed to refrain - good job. You don't count as stupid (yet :) in my book.

I suspect they do it because their heroes do it--you can find most of the slurs you mentioned plus a number you didn't list everyday on Rush, Savage, Hannity, O'Reilly, Worldnet, Newsmax, The Free Republic, etc. Just name the right-wing group and you'll find those kinds of slurs.
The left has their own, but they're not as effective, maybe because we just lack the heart as a group to call people names. We have Rethuglican, for instance, and right-wing nutjob, or just plain wingnut, but we don't pull them out as often.
Maybe it's also because we don't have to--we actually have substantive issues to talk about.

It is unfortunate that so many posters here have no idea what they are talking about in the first place anyway. That is often where the mindless flames originate from. As if lobbing mindless insults would ever change anyones world view on politics. If anything, people do more damage to their chances of convincing someone they are wrong here than anything else. Still, looking to online forums as a source of intelligent political debate is probably not the best idea. Regardless, its a good place to waste some time.

Same here...prolly because I am one...it's funny to me how they use 'liberal' like an insult. pssh...conservative white trailer trash.

well, when I get called a communist (which happens fairly regularly) I just respond by calling the offending person a fascist. The problem is that they don't always see this as a bad thing.
Being British I don't get so many slurs, but Lib. Demoprat is about the worst

I have not yet encounted an intelligent person who having a point to make, wasted their words on name calling, ergo when people name call they either have no legitimate point or unintelligent, or both.
