If you're happy and you know it, bomb Iraq

If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are getting frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam’s gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And if he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.

If the globe is quickly warming, bomb Iraq.
If the poor will soon be storming, bomb Iraq.
We assert that might makes right,
Burning oil is a delight,
For the empire we will fight,
Bomb Iraq.

"Its pre-emptive non-aggression": bomb Iraq.
To prevent more mass destruction, bomb Iraq.
They’ve got weapons we can’t see,
And that’s all the proof we need,
Come on lets set them free,
Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think that someone's dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to Hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

If corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And tryin' ta hide it ain’t that easy,
And your manhood’s getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We’ll call it treason,
Let’s make war not love this season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

Didn't Peter, Paul and Mary record this?

I don't know if anyone recorded it. I found a few versions of it and spliced them together, making this.

You've just got to love protest songs, even if you don't agree with the protestors. Their mostly really funny, and are at least written/sung with emotion - which is what music is all about.

Perhaps Tori Amos will cover it, complete with a lot of vaugely orgasmic moans and groans, a completely arbitrary harpsichord interlude, and a verse I don't understand because I don't have ovaries.

Actually, AZ, I think it's turning into flaming because of CHB. And, while I'm not really sure you can blame the war on she/he/it, I'd be delighted to see the argument. :)
Apple Zer0

We all have our reasons for not likeing something so if CHB does not like this then so be it but don't start shooting that "Your outnumbered" bullshit at her/him

Too bad, because if he hadn't, then maybe Bush would have actually had some legitimate reason to go into Iraq. Is that why you hate Clinton so much? Because he actually did the job well unlike the current President?

To digress slightly, is "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!" the new anthem for Bush? I mwan, despite the fact that none of his missions are actually accomplished, I hear it all the time.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Oh, I wouldn't go saying Mission Accomplished just yet Stirner--or do you really want to look at exactly what has been accomplished by Bush in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Karzai is a figurehead, after all, the majority of Afghanistan is still controlled by warlords--including a reconstituted Taliban--and Bin Laden and al Qaeda are still mostly at large.

And in Iraq, we've got Allawi, a man who it was recently reported summarily executed 6 men personally with a pistol (shades of Hussein, wouldn't you say), and we continue to have soldiers die at roughly the same rates they were dying before Allawi "took over."

I guess, if you're simplistic, then yeah, Bush 2, Clinton 0. I like to look at thing a little more deeply though.

Very amusing song.
It is less funny though than Donald Rumsfeld quotations.

"As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know."

"We know where they [the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction] are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

a) have a sense of humour
b) can write amusing poetry instead of bitch constantly and incessently
and
c) can avoid degenerating to random insults and childish comment

Way to support your political views there champ.

Speaking solely for myself, Bush's failure to get UN support wasn't a main reason why I was opposed to the war. I opposed the war because 1) it was a distraction from the war/rebuilding effort in Afghanistan and 2) I didn't believe the administration's attempts to link Iraq and 9/11, nor did I believe their WMD accusations. The fact that the UN didn't support it was just gravy to me.
Shaed
23-07-2004, 09:16
I opposed the war because the whole WMD thing was obviously bullshit. Out of my whole family, my mum was the only one who believed it. Truly sweet is the phrase "I *told* you so"

Oh, and isn't it so lovely how supporters suddenly turn around and say "WMD? *What* WMD? We're here to free the people of Iraq! No, really! That's what it was about all along". Suuuuuure it was. Propaganda good this time of year?

Heh. 'WMD' my buttocks.
