What Happend To Revolution?

So I'm sitting here in my room thinking about a lot of people I know that are constantly complaining about the way the government is run, and that they'd vote but the government has even found a way to manipulate the voice of the people...whether that is true or not is not the point of the topic, so I won't go into that.

These people march to Washington in the millions and protest against Bush and the government that they claim has opressed them. Where have your picket signs taken you? Where have your "sit ins" and mocking dead soldiers on the front lawn of federal buildings gotten you and your views? You've gone no where, so you return to your small town and listen to anti-government based music all day.

What the hell happened to revolution? Replace your picket signs with AK-47's...if you people are so fed up with the government, grow some balls and make a damn statement that will turn heads.

I am finished.

I agree, a revolution would be much more worth the time and effort being put into this. But simply, it would be very costly and I dont think the American people are really that up to a violent revolution. What would be better is a non-violent revolution, a complete denyal of the population. It is sure to work. A great example is Muhatma Gahndi, he took on the entire British Empire and still got his country's independence. I what i'm pretty much saying is, most of the population arn't ready for their AK-47's, I dont think the American people would be brave enough to tackle the government with armed forces. A better way is always to non-violent way.

A lot of people... you mean The Red Arrow and all his puppets? Yes, you want change in the government but refuse to vote because the government has "fixed" the system. Brilliant, if only all liberals thought the same way we could get something done for a change.

Hey, I can agree with that.

Well, it sort of died with Communism. That, and the American public is more intelligent than Europeans give them credit, and don't need to maul their government to get their views across. Finally, a few words: National Guard. Unites States Military. I seriously doubt that "revolutionary hopefuls" could get through that. Besides, the "Contented majority," the majority of people that are looking out for #1 and are politically apathetic, would probably ignore it.

revolutions tend to be a bloody mess. you only want to chance one after everything has already turned to shit and you really have no other choice.

the american people are deeply and profoundly uninterested in revolution at this point. they can still get all the dvds and suvs they can eat, why do more than bitch.

there's already a scheduled coup once every four years. its the beauty of regularly scheduled elections. we dont need ak's when we have voting boxes. that is all.

I am not saying I necisserly want an armed revolution...

I'm just saying that these damn hippy/punk rocker/IH8th3GoVeRMENT(spelled incorrect on purpose) people need to put up or shut up. They do nothing but bitch and march with stupid signs. It's aggravating, and it gets them no where really. Not with a man like Bush in office.

Most gun-toters in the U.S. vote conservative anyway, so they're happy with Bush.

Personally, I hate him, but them again, I hate most people in politics.

BLAH!

Sure I want a Revolution, a Revolution in Democracy! Come on people vote, that's the only way you'll get things done. Meh, I have no idea what I said either...

I want to Presidential election to be based on popular vote. That would be nice. The electoral college was meant to circumvent the people and move away from democracy. If we instated popular vote, then the people could speak.

Actually, that is EXACTLY what happened to the revolutions of '68. Broad based coalitions of activists were hijacked by militant groups who advocated violence (black panthers, weathermen, etc) and destroyed the movement by scaring of the more moderate groups. The current "anti-globalisation"/social fora movement is an attempt to avoid the mistakes of the past by resisting hijacking and keeping the movement broadly-based.

Rather than bitching and moaning and making stupid suggestions about guns online (which might even get you arrested), why not get involved, go to social forums, talk to people, bring your perspective, come up with sensible ideas for action, change the world, my friend. Too many people are happy to criticise and do nothing to put forward an alternative. Agitate, Educate, Organise.

Actually, Gandhi did not free India. India was finally freed because of a civil war between the Hindus and Muslims was making India a burden to Britain. So they split the country into Pakistan and India and got the heck out of there.

Revolution is nice when the power you're revolting against doesn't have all that much power, is beset with internal strife and/or is physically far away. The US government doesn't qualify in any of those regards. A revolt would die out just as quickly as a riot, and probably end up exactly the same.

Besides, armed revolt in a situation that is... theoretically.... solvable through normal channels is unecessary violence.

Somebody once said that the revolution will not go better with Coke and that it wouldn't be televised .... so we lost interest.
