I'm tired of having to defend everything I say to idiots, so I decided I'd used this web blog thing and let people email their responses to me. That way I don't have to worry about idiots changing what I said and making me look bad. Anyway, I hope this works out as well as I'd like it too (obviously). So far, I've posted my opinion on Alcohol and Responsibility and I'm open to suggestions for new issues etc. I'll try to address as many issues as are requested, regardless of my feelings on them.

Doesn't this post just smack of ego? I recognize you now Opal Isle. What you are saying is that anyone who disagrees with you in the NS forums must be really stupid so he should come and pay you a visit so you can lecture him at length to correct the error of his ways...

I agree with DN. It's like you think everyone who doesn't agree with you after a short discussion is a fool. That's a tad ignorant. And, to some extend, are also your believes sometimes. Imo that is.

If you don't like defending what you say, then stop posting your opinion otherwise you got to be ready for some flaming/other opinions.

Just to tell you, I agreed with you in that thread about Iraq. Even so, those who do not have an open mind to the arguments of the other side should give up debating all together, as there is nothing that will change their mind. These people, IMHO, are more dangerous than those that are easily swayed.

It is one thing to have strong opinions (I do too), but it's quite another to discount all dissenting opinions as stupid. Granted, there are some posters who descend to the level of ad Hominem attacks because they cannot adequately respond to well-reasoned posts, but closing your mind to all debate is probably worse than having to tolerate personal attacks.

Check it again now, someone has emailed me with an opinion that doesn't agree. I posted the email and addressed the issues.

What I meant for my original post to sound like is the reason I like this blog better than these forums is because if I get tired of an issue, I can drop it. I don't have to let people keep tearing me down and making personal attacks on me and my posts. In fact, I don't think I'll be too willing to post emails that make personal attacks on anything. Anything else however will probably be all go. Check the site out again before you decide on me because you think you know me in the way that you think I think about everyone who disagrees with me. Both of these thoughts are kind of . . . wrong...

It is posts like this which drove me to "make" the site that I didn't make. I filled out my personal info, picked some colors, chose a user name and viola. No more sad than making an account on a forum to make personal attacks on people. It is the posts like this that would be left out of my site because it doesn't add anything to the debate, it just attempts tearing other people down, which I hate seeing. Why tear a person down if you can't tear down their argument? Oh...because it makes people agree with you based off the stuff that doesn't matter instead of the stuff that does...right, thanks...

I'm not trying to convince people how cool I am, but if I accidentily convinced someone well I guess that works. Anyways, this thread is full of proof why the blog isn't such a terrible idea. The personal attack posts happen a lot and then the argument gets lost. The point of a personal attack in this forum seems to be to make your opponent look like a fool in front of all of the audience without actually adressing the real issue. With the blogs, people can still email me (heck, they can flood me and spam me and sign me up for porn spam or do even more childish acts there), but all of the insults and stuff that does not add to the actual debate can be left out of the debate. If you want to insult someone on the NationStates forums, then it should be done via telegram and done to be an insult, not to win over the audience by attacking your opponent on what he is instead of what he stands for...but since it would be impossible to convince all nations to save their insults for Telegrams, I'm finding my own solution and getting criticized for thinking out the box. Any further insults you want to send my way feel free to visit my blog (which the people insulting me probably didn't even look at) and email me. If it is an insult, I'll read it and not be insulted because I don't get insulted. If it is an actual mature argument or another side of an issue or something I am opposed to then I will make a response and post it on my blog.

Actually, I challenge you to keep an eye on my blog and wait for me to post an issue that you feel very strongly about. When this issue comes up, email me your best defense for your side of the argument and challenge me to post it on my site. If I fail to post an email simply because I disagree with it, then I will understand the personal attacks on my decision to start this blog. But until then, you're just arguing against me for who knows what reason.
