Do you think people who make threats/suicide to kill should be taken into custody?

A few examples of these are: (I don't have links for them)
1. A teen kept writing notes and notes and notes on how he'll kill people in his school. Notes were found and he was taken into custody...or whatever they do. Of course, this wasn't the ONLY case. A bunch, bunch more comes out in schools.
2. Another teen, different area, kept saying he'll kill the President. He was taken into custody.
3. Same as #2, except it was a different teen, different area
4. A man was fired from his job and prior to that, he made threats that he would kill someone if he ever was fired. He was not taken into custody, but two years later he shot and killed his boss along with a few other people and then shot himself.

Now, I've seen threads that debate this problem. And the popular opinion is: "I congratulate them for having a mind of their own." and "OH MY GOD WHAT RETARDS! They're taking threats way too seriously!"

Now excuse me, but WHAT THE FUCK are you thinking? Ya think that kids don't bring guns to school in America? You think these kids are not willing to pull them out and threaten in America? You think people are always making dry jokes or dry threats? You think Presidents are never assasinated? You think we should sit idle and pretend every threat and joke is not meant to be taken seriously until someone actually does DIE from everyone's ignorance while we go "Oh, well we never thought she was serious when she wrote a note about how she's going to kill the kids on this one list we confiscated here..." IIRC, 6 American Presidents were either assasinated, or shot at with a gun. 3 of those are within the last 50 years.

Now tell me, if you had a daughter in your school and someone in that school kept writing about how she'll use a gun to her own advantage....would you think of it as a cheap threat until you see your daughter for the last time as her eyes are covered by the zipped up body bag and two unknown strangers take her away? What will you say then? Will you still keep that opinion?

Or will you stay ignorant and think that the world is one big game known as "Candyland"?
