"Dubya". Where did that nickname come from, anyway? I mean, nobody calls John Kerry "Eff".

um, i think its a play on his texas origins. the middle 'w' if pronounced with a texas drawl sounds like dubya. . .or something.

Nope, sorry, I got my New England states mixed up. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut and grew up in Midland, Texas.

Maybe not, but I have heard conservative radio talk show hosts call him John effing Kerry.

It was a shorthand way of distinguishing him from his father--he's not a junior. His father was George Herbert Walker Bush, and he's George Walker Bush. He's Dubya instead of "Aich Dubya."

Funny, the news media buried that then when Cheney said it, its front page news. Fox News reported both Kerry's and Cheney's use of it! Kerry dodged and Cheney didn't! Why is Kerry going on about Cheney's use whereas ignoring his own use and why has the media harped on Cheney's use and not Kerry's?
