Where do you get your news/information from?

Vorringia

MKULTRA gave me this idea.

So what sources do you use? Whether it be newspapers, magazines, newstations (specific shows) or internet sources; what are they?

Personnally I use the following:

1. The Economist (British Magazine)
2. The Montreal Gazette (I think its crap, but the editorials are worth the read)
3. Le Monde Diplomatique (French Magazine)
4. Polityka (Polish magazine)
5. Fox News-Sunday Edition
6. ABC News-Saturday Edition with Stephanopoulos (Or whoever you spell it)
7. AM Radio 900-990 in Montreal
8. PBS News-Newshour with Jim Lehrer
9. BBC News-American edition

They are in no particular order.

So what about the rest of you?

I read a lot of newpapers online, mostly because television news is really bad and even on 'serious' news channels like the BBC, serious issues are reduced to soundbites.

Best is www.guardian.co.uk

Internet:
MSNBC
CNN
Netscape CNN
their search engines work pretty well, the stories stay up for a long time, and they keep the most headlines listed. CNN could use a spell check and grammar check, though

TV:
NBC
FOX
CNN
CNN Headline News
CNBC
MSNBC
FOX News
those plus CBS and ABC are the ones available. I skip CBS and ABC by habit rather than convenience

You mean the Hutton enquiry? One word; whitewash.

And they didn't get busted for "lying", it was Andrew Gilligan's "sexing up" dossier nonsense.

And in the end, it turned out to be true anyway! Tony Blair himself said a few weeks ago that there was "a chance" WMDs will no be found in Iraq. Hardly the dramatic "45 minutes" capability he reported in the House of Commons.

From here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3054991.stm

24 September 2002, House of Commons
"It [the intelligence service] concludes that Iraq has chemical and biological weapons, that Saddam has continued to produce them, that he has existing and active military plans for the use of chemical and biological weapons, which could be activated within 45 minutes, including against his own Shia population; and that he is actively trying to acquire nuclear weapons capability..."

14 July, 2004, statement on the Butler report
"We expected, I expected to find actual usable, chemical or biological weapons after we entered Iraq.

"But I have to accept, as the months have passed, it seems increasingly clear that at the time of invasion, Saddam did not have stockpiles of chemical or biological weapons ready to deploy."

Bolding mine.

lol, the debates on this forum are anything but balanced.

They may not be entirely balanced, but it gives me a chance to see both sides of a debate. If the debaters (debators?) are both equally learned, you get a fair view and can make your own opinion. If one's got a good background, or one resorts quickly to spam/flames, it also helps form my opinion. Not as well however.

Anyway, I just learn pretty well from this.

And as Vorringia said, I also see the BBC posted as source information the most.

if i happen to want a reference i'll look it up afterwards. there is supporting documentation for almost any position on the web, so i figure usually someone else as already made up what i just did, and quite possibly gone to the effort of attempting to prove it through the creation of lovely cut and pastable documents.

Hmm... actually something interesting to think about...

1) The Chicago Tribune
2) WGN 720 AM
3) WLS 890 AM
4) WBBM 780 AM
5) Various internet sites when I'm curious (FOX, google, CNN, whatever I think of when I'm looking).
6) On the rare occation that I actually use my TV for something other than a DVD, I'll watch CNN or FOXNews.

And, in reality, 1 and 2 are an "every day" type of thing. 3 is "every couple days", and four on down is "maybe once a month, if that."

Bullshit, it has a true liberal bias. Yes, they are pro-free trade, but they admit that, and if you can't realize that and take it into account, don't read The Economist. Besides, they are very left-leaning as far as social/civil rights issues go (I.E. gay marriage)

For the same reason that everyone doesn't become an athlete. It requires a lot of skill, confidence and talent. Not everyone is a natural salesman for example.
