City of Heroes
is anybody around here familiar with the game City of Heroes? i have a friend who is totally hooked and trying to convince me to buy it, but i want other opinions if possible.

I have heard of many games...but have NEVER heard of it...maybe theres a website with a demo or something...try www.google.com :)
It's really good. If you would even consider putting that kind of money into a game, I'd say this is the one to lose it to. I only play on my boyfriend's account though...Can't wait til I go back to school and can use his computer all the time :D
Seriously though, I love it, and if you have any specific questions about it I can try to answer.
If you do get it, keep an eye out for Pico de Gallo!

I've played it a few times. It's very creative, but once you get past character creation, it's not as exciting. The game is focused solely on fighting - which would normally ROCK, but fighting is sort of slow and awkward. Just my two cents.

The game is fun till level 25 about then it becomes tedious as the only thing to do...is more of the same. Leveling also slows down drastically, so it takes alot away from the fun of seeing yoru character improve.

But you're running around the city....and you hear some woman yelling "Leave me alone! You can't have my purse! Oh, HELP!!"
and no matter how many levels higher or lower than you the criminals may be- you can't help but try to kill them...

IMO, this game gets boring really fast. All you do is go off on repetitive missions, wander around the city beating up guys, and well.....that's pretty much it. You can't even change your characters appearence, no extra costumes, no nothing. If you want a real MMORPG, try Star Wars Galaxies or wait for EQ2 or something.

I play it, and I love it. I'm hooked too.
However, having said that, the game is a work-in-progress, and needs some more fleshing out if it's going to hold player's interest longer than 6 months to a year.

I've heard that City of Heros is fun. Haven't played it though, my soul is currently consumed by Final Fantasy XI.

actually...there are extra costumes
they just added it...
and with the extra costumes you can totally change your appearance I believe...but it'll cost you

Hmm....well the game still needs alot of work.
wow, thanks everybody! very helpful to hear varied opinions on it...i think i might give it a try, since i have some birthday money just waiting to be spent on a videogame, and because it is such a new game i am guessing that some of the problems are still being ironed out.
