Hello fellow nerds, I need your opinion on where I can get the best gaming laptop for about $2,100.

The system I want to get can be viewed here: The laptop (http://secure.hypersonic-pc.com/scripts/custom_sys.asp?sysid=Aviator_AX6)

My favorite site is www.alienware.com
Problem: the laptops are overpriced

A good secondary site is www.sagernotebook.com
They even have a laptop with 2 CD/DVD burners optional
Some laptops are P4 w/HT ... they have a new one with an Athlon 64 :D :D

hope this helps  :mp5: (happy fragging)

I have both an Athlon 64 3200+ and a P4 3.0GHZ and the P4 kicks the he** outta the Athlon in everything except mathematical calculations..for gaming I recommend the P4 3.0-3.6 GHZ (if you can afford it...the EE)

My stepbrother has a P4 3.4 Ghz, but its tough to tell what makes it so good, either the 2 GB of ram, 256 MB Graphics card (I forget the maker), or the fact its an alienware.

I can afford the Athlon 64 or the P4, but from what I have read, its better to get a high end graphics card and a lot of RAM rather than a fast processor.

Ok, I'll compare a Sager with a Hypersonic. Alienware is too much unless someone like my Dad will subsidize my purchase "No thats what you have a job for."

I am actually a bf1942er, I dont like the squad based games, I like historical FPS games.

lol good job not knowing anything. The core processing power of a PC based processor and an Apple processor are significantly different because their processing type is different. Whereas PC's handle large packets, Apple handles many smaller packets, so regardless of the difference in GHz Apple actually has a faster processing speed (cool)

They probably didn't release Unreal Tournament for Mac because if you're going to buy a game for one you ought to at least buy a decent game such as Photoshop or Office OSX

Yes! Moron!

In fact, the G5 kicks the sh*t out of any PC; they did benchmark tests.

So get some facts first.

And it was a simultaneous release.

They didn't do UT 2004 in the benchmark test. It was done later, in the normal way, and not by Apple. It was a test of the G5 with the Radeon 9800.

I just object to the ignorant people out there. "Why would you even touch an Apple? They're so out of date..." blah blah. They aren't. I've had this argument before.

Apart from the fact that Apples wont run any non-mainstream games, or games that I like, I use PC's at school, and at home. I see no need to change.

Whats with people being so stupid? Don't buy computers from Dell or Alienware they're way too expensive. Build your own computer its so damn easy. Macintosh lie about they're computers performance. Plus the G5 costs like two thousand dollars. For 1,000 dollars you can make a computer that would kick the shit out of the G5. Use linux and be done with all that shit or maybe windows xp professional.

If your gaming the HD speed only really matters loading it up, once its going it doesnt really matter between new hard drives.

Non-mainstream games? The Mac has a HUGE shareware community. I don't remember that being mainstream.

What games do you like, anyway?

And you can use PC's all you like-I just hate people slagging off Macs without knowing any of the facts.

I think it depends on what you do with your computer. My friend does a lot of Photoshopping and web design, and his new Powerbook is perfect for him. If you play games all the time, a Mac wouldnt be the way to go because very little gets to it.

I personally have always used PC's, though my Physics teacher this year had a lab full of only iMacs, which I became irritated by the 1 mouse button. Though I also have never seen a Mac freeze like a PC

I am not Mac-ignorant and in fact have some Mac magazines in my magazine collection. Anyway I challenge anyone here to buy a G5 Apple now and see how fast you get it. There are having trouble with supplying the product (due to "technical problems") and you can get only G4s at the moment.

If you work for Apple, yes you get your hands on a G5 Apple, but for mere consumer you have to wait.

PS - Anyone want a broken Apple LCII? :D

RTS Military strategy, mainly WWII games, Hearts of Iron is a favorite, the only mainstream game I play is BF1942. Come to think of it, I havent bought any new games in 9 months, I've been having that much fun with HOI and BF1942.

I know the facts, and the facts show that a PC, despite its occasional crashes, is superior. The bottom line is that macs are for nerds that "dare to be different" and want to stand out from the crowd, or use them for work.
