Well, I am now an official resident of Florida. No more California :( :). Good to be here and seems like a cool place to live so far. One thing for sure is housing is alot less expencive and theres lots of room to grow.

I didnt start this thread to just talk about Florida though. How many of you have relocated your family to a new area? and also, Have any of you driven CLEAR across the USA to do it :). Tell you what, it was fun, but it was long. especially going through Texas. It seemed we would never make it out of there!!! Very cool though seeing the country and how it changes. Going from the Mountains and high deserts of the west then changing to a temperate forest in Texas to the swamps and deep forests of Lousiana and Miss and Alabama to the tropics of Florida.

If any of you have a couple of weeks and a few hundred dollars for gas and hotel, it makes a great trip. and you can take I-10 pretty much the whole way. :)

Bored and thought i'd share(plus good way to get my first post on the board ;) :) )

I've not only driven clear across the US to do it, I've flown across the Pacific to do it. Twice. Once from Texas to Kadena AFB, once from Kadena to Alabama. During the Kadena to Alabama trip, we drove cross country from Oregon to Alabama.

I went the opposite direction last summer--from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco--and you're absolutely right that there's no better way to cross the country than by automobile.

We took a different route, since we were traveling light and had time--up through Georgia to Kentucky (Mammoth Cave). Through the midwest to NW Arkansas to see some friends. Through the Texas panhandle--faster that way--to northern New Mexico, through Arizona and to the Pacific at Monterey and north to the San Francisco Bay.

And if you want to do it even more cheaply, buy a tent and a couple of sleeping bags and stay at campgrounds along the way--about twenty to twenty-five bucks a night.

Heh, I've driven across the country 4 times, to move.

You drove through New Mexico, then, where I live, did you enjoy that? I agree Texas is huge and boring but NM is very pretty IMO.

hey Cule!! man it's been a while.... since last summer i think! oh yeah, my old nation (the one you'd recognize) got deleted -- i was andifemale... nice to see a familiar name ^.^

nope, haven't moved ever... glad it was fun for you though! i have driven from chicago to orlando non stop (well, we slept in our car in a hotel parking lot). it took 25 hours... not too much fun being stuck in a crowded car with siblings for that long, lol.
