Just a thought.

What if just days before the election it was discovered that the presidential candidates of the democrat and republican parties were imposter pod people from another planet and the entire upper eschelon of those parties were found to be mindless minion androids.

For which viable major 3rd party would you vote?

These are the 5 largest parties with enough electoral representation to theoretically (albeit improbably) have a presidential candidate elected.

That would explain quite a bit.

The lp of course. They have great economics but so do the constitutionalists but they go to far with the whole religion thing so though I am a religious man myself I say LP

When I register it will be with the LP and they will often get if not most of the time (especially locally) my vote

Actually I'd vote or at least strongly consider the LP right now and likely always will

From the sky comes a scream, as Homer is crashing right into the
Capitol. A few footsteps later, he comes running down the stairs.

Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them]
[audience gasps in terror]
Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us.
[murmurs]
Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system.
Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate.
Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.
[Kang and Kodos laugh out loud]
[Ross Perot smashes his "Perot 96" hat]

The next day, Kodos announces the result: "All hail, President Kang."

The field in front of the Capitol has now become a working ground
where humans are whipped by aliens and used to carry materials.

The Simpsons family is working too, with Homer and the kids carrying
wood, and Marge pushing a wheelbarrow of cinderblocks -- with Maggie
on top.

Marge: I don't understand why we have to build a ray gun to aim at a planet I never even heard of.
Homer: Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

thinks that anybody who is re-elected to office should automatically be enrolled in the "the Guilty Party."

http://www.vote-smart.org/index.htm is keeping up with the different parties, especially Republican and Democratic.

I would go for the Constitution party, or the Libertarian. The Reformed Party isnt taken very seriously by people i know even though they were once powerful.

The Rhino Party. A vote for the Rhino party is a vote to repeal the laws of gravity. And really, who doesn't want that?

Of course, there is the problem that it's a defunct Canadian independant.
