Opposition Leaders lacking substance

Instead of attacking politicians personally, let us discuss what the US, UK and Australian opposition leaders are promising people

America - John Kerry - "Anybody but Bush"

You really have to admire the effort that went into the Democrat's only policy. I have to say though, that it really isn't a policy, but a plea for help.

UK - Michael Howard - Uh has he got any?

Australia - Mark Latham - Bring the troops home by Christmas; Free reading books for all children; wide ranging tax cuts; sign the Kyoto Protocol; say sorry to the Aborigines; oppose Free Trade; create a Republic within 3 years. (all un-costed)

So, what we have here are 3 opposition leaders who are really failing to address the major issues. If people want to know why Bush, Blair and Howard (John) are going to be re-elected, then all we need do is look at the above.

Simple put; the opposition leaders lack substance.

Even as one who would vote Bush in the Bush vs. Kerry election, I'd say that Hilary Clinton will rape the election when she runs. 2008 was it?

I think Hillary's a bit polarizing to be a shoe-in. :?

I have to agree but it will be an interesting race depending on who the Republicans put up as a candadate. I say put Rice up for it!

Rice vs. Clinton. Interesting, two women running for president in the two major parties. This is proof times have changed from the olden days.

It would be interesting as to who would win. I place money on Condi though!

Maybe we should open up a topic on this, and leave Rotovia's thread alone. Sorry, Rotovia!

LOL I was absent minded when I posted that. I was thinking of Rotovia's Australia messup thread when I read this, and for some reason I thought this was in there.

But anyways...

Politicans have to promise grandiose ideas to catch people's attention nowadays, because not many people actually do the research and fact-finding when choosing a candidate.

So, by making lofty promises, however untrue they may play out, these politicans catch people's eyes this way.

Deceptive, of course!

funny how you ignore the neighbour to the north of you who is having an election in two days...

though with the close race, it does make it difficult to tell who the opposition will be soon.

Yes, well Indonesia is having a Presidential Election, and sadly a man wanted by the UN for links to war crimes will win.

Oh...sorry, you meant Canada? Uh, nobody cares. Why? Because Canada is not a controversial nation when you think about it. After Vietnam and the draft dodgers, Canada lost its appeal. Sure they had a revival under the whole gay marriage rot but now Canada is a sleepy nation where not much happens...

However, the UK, US and Australia are vibrant nations embrioled in Iraq. These elections sell newspapers worldwide and capture global attention. If Bush, John Howard and Blair win their elections, it will show the world that the West is stronger than ever.

If they lose...God help us all.

Where are the costings, the policy papers and the academia to back these vague generalisations up?

I encourage all to look at the site posted. It proves my point that these opposition leaders lack substance. John Kerry promises much, but delivers little on the above website.

Details are lacking...we should be asking why this is so.
