Hi everyone, im gojng to step out of my usual skin for a fewe minutwes.

Basically, I very soon, have a mock UN summit, on cloning.

There are around 80 peopledoing it, and i have been chosen to represent the catholic church.

Basically, the summit is about Cloning, in particula the motions are:
"That cloning research be used for the reintroduction of endangered and exctinct species" "That it is a parents right to decide wether or not to undergo genetic parental testing" "That breakthrough biotechnology products can be affordable and accessible to everyone"
I require the stance of the catholic church on these issues. I have googled it and realised thaty most of the information sopurces had nothing to do with the catholic church...

Anyway, any help anyone, particularly catholics could provide would be helpful.

Search Google for the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" It's a comprehensive guide to Catholic views on a wide range of subjects as well as the reasoning behind those choices.

Hope that helped from this Catholic :o)

Hey, that sounds like fun.

"That cloning research be used for the reintroduction of endangered and exctinct species"

"NOO!! ITS EVILL!!! UNNATURAL! GOD WANTED THEM DEAD" etc.

"That it is a parents right to decide wether or not to undergo genetic parental testing"

Dude, too easy. "It is a sad reflection of todays immoral and sinful society that such actions are necessary, blah blah blah"

"That breakthrough biotechnology products can be affordable and accessible to everyone"

I dunno, well, the catholic church hasn't exactly been pro-scientific innovation over the years.

Is this graded? If not, just play around and adlib it. If so, well just dig up some facts against the points from any source and say it's the position of the church.

Thats my useless advice for tonight.

edit- Please catholics, don't take offence at my mocking. You're entitled to your beliefs...

Isn't everyone playing god? Wasn't the meteor playing god when killing the dinosaurs? Isn't any species making an other extinct playing god? Genetic-engineering (unlike cloning, I must say) is just speeding up teh evolution. I mean, where's the difference in, let's say mating different dogs until we have the race we are looking for or creating the race right away? The only thing I don't like in this issue is that it's not tested enough. Something goes wrong and a few religious lunatics are given ground again to complain about how all science is bad and how we should have stayed in the medieval or even on trees.

You would think Catholics and cloning would go hand in hand.
Cloning makes more people and the Catholic church wants more people for their flock.
