Would you rather have your name on a list or die?

No I jest ye not, in Rome a new idea has been put forward to have a register of old and weak etc in each town, then if the temperature rises too much they can be moved to a cooler area. This idea has been attacked by Civil Rights campaigners. I wondered how someone could possibly hold that view, that it is better to die in the heat than have your name on a list? Also I wonder how many of those 'civil rights' campaigners were elderly residents who are put at risk, I would guess none?

From where? There may be a few too many to give each one an air conditioner.

I don't know that's just what it said, maybe they put them in a fridge, in which case I could understand the complaint.

Instead of moving the elderly around, I say warn them on the phone that the temperature is increasing.

Yeah, that way they can panic about it.

 Yes, and while they're at it, they can run inside/move to lower ground, take a cold shower, etc, etc.

Obviously no one thought of that last time, instead they sat outside and roasted. It may be a bit hard to take a cold shower for too solid days though.
