Rumsfeld Ok'd harsh Treatment
By John Diamond

Well, now we all know where this stemmed from. The Bush administration released document detailing what 'interogation' procedures could be used against prisoners in Abu Ghraib.

. . .including stripping terror suspects and threatening them with dogs. . .

Bush himself may not have condoned the terrorism, but if his defense secretary did, Bush needs to reign in his cabinet. It is exactly this sort of thing that's getting him in trouble. He can't seem to control his own cabinet from doing what they want to do.

. . . a Nov. 27, 2002 'action' memo in which Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld approved interrogation techniques that included "removal of clothing" and "inducing stress by use of detainee's fears (e.g. dogs)"

Now if those orders wern't bad enough, the torture went further.

Rumsfeld also approved placing detainees "stress positions" such as standing for up to four hours . . .

Rumsfeld even wrote on the memo:

"I stand for 8-10 hours a day. Why is standing limited to four hours?"

All this took place even after Bush said that detainees were to be treated humanly and that he would never condone the use of torture. And so I ask this: If Bush cannot seem to control his own cabinet, why is he in control of our nation?

Do I detect a troll-puppet? I DO!!!!!!

Anyways, the only thing we would prove if we did torture and/or kill the terrorists would be that we're no better than them. And, think of the hell that would be unleashed if al-Qaida got wind of this or pictures of it?! It would be the biggest recruitment tool they ever got! They've already had a bonanza with the whole Abu Ghraib atrocity (which, by the way, was perpetrated upon ordinary citizens and common criminals, not terrorists or terror suspects). The Administration's tacit approval of these clearly illegal interrogation techniques is reprehensible. They should be impeached. Or atleast re-defeated in November.
