48 Nobel prize winners choose Kerry over Bush
*Because Bush puts religion over science
48 Nobel-Winning Scientists Back Kerry
In campaign news, 48 Nobel Prize-winning scientists issued an open letter yesterday backing Democrat John Kerry while charging that President Bush has compromised the world's future by shortchanging scientific research

Personally, I'd rather see 51% of the American people choose Kerry over Bush but 48 Nobel winners is a good start.
I care why? Is this another lame attempt to state that religion and science are fundamentally incompatible, or just stating that someone who puts their personal beliefs at the forefront of their life is contemptible and unworthy to lead a nation?
I don't much like W, by the way. But I see no reason to put anything ahead of God.

Does it really take Nobel Prize winners to figure out that the Bush administration favors ideology over scientific fact? I mean, I'm glad they've come out and all, but how many people are going to change their vote now that 48 Nobel Prize winners have come out and said that the Bush administration doesn't care about scientific fact when it collides with their commercial or ideological goals?

Appeal to false authority, anybody? That's not really fair--after all, it's not like Kerry went out and hunted these 48 NobelPrize winners down and asked for their support. You might have a case if that had happened (although considering Nobel Prize winners a false authority on the subject of science is quite iffy).

My point being that they received their awards for scientific endeavours, rather than for their political acumen. I'm sure that if, for example, Bush was willing to spend more on religion than on science, he would have no problem getting the names of 48 highly ranked members of the clergy to lend their support. All these scientists are doing is stating their own self-interests.
Edit: not to be read as taking either a Pro-Bush or Pro-Kerry position, just commenting.

Hun, if it were true, the media would be blasting it coast to coast. It would've gotten public on TV and no media outlet is reporting it. As such, its false reporting and speculation until it is blared over CNN and Fox News. It hasn't so Im doubting it till it occurs.

Here you go. (http://www.herald-sun.com/nationworld/14-490851.html)
It's from the Herald Sun, which looks like it's out of the Raleigh Durham NC area, but it's an AP story from yesterday written by Nedra Pickler so it appeared in any number of papers nationwide. Here's the quote:
In a letter endorsing Kerry, 48 scientists who have won the Nobel Prize said the Bush administration is undermining the nation's future by impeding medical advances, turning away scientific talent with its immigration practices, and ignoring scientific consensus on global warning and other critical issues.
"Unlike previous administrations, Republican and Democratic alike, the Bush administration has ignored unbiased scientific advice in the policy-making that is so important to our collective welfare," their letter stated.

There may not be anything wrong with putting some superstitious diety at the forefront of your life, but this is not what Bush is doing. Bush is merely putting religious supersition in front of science. But as we can see, economics is more important to Bush than religion. Why do I say that? Well, take Iraq for example...

The article makes no reference to any payment, and considering Pickler's recent articles focusing on Kerry's privileged upbringing and current wealth (while ignoring Bush's), I'm pretty sure she'd have mentioned it had it happened.

My advice: Watch as many news networks as possible. Read as many newspapers and webpages as possible. Talk to as many people as possible. Every source you encounter will be biased and propagandistic. But if you take in enough sources and use deductive reasoning, you'll get a very clear, accurate picture. Oh yes, common sense is good too...

It wasn't an insult. You merely implied that since it wasn't on Fox News that it must not exist. As you value others opinions as much as you say you do, then you must certainly value mine when I say that I fully believe Fox News to be nothing more than propaganda on a scale with al-Jazeera and Pravda.
I placed the ABC News site first because they are recognized as a legitimate source of news. But since you like CNN and Fox so much, then here:
