I usually only scan Fox/Faux news.

This bothers me.

I once refused to indentfy myself. I had two policemen appear at my door asking questions about who lived here, etc. They would not explain their purpose so I refused when they asked.

They got rather testy and if they had this ruling in place.......

But this is not the shrubs fault right?

Are you sure those were policemen?

Seems like the cons are puhing through all their controversial stuff now. Perhaps they dont feel election is assured, or perhaps they are suring up support in conservative bases.

they might be fake cops...

and, don't you need a warrant in order to question someone at their residence? Or is that just for searching a house/car?

A warrant is just for searching...

For anyone interested, the man at the center of this case, Dudley Hiibel, has a website. Obviously, it's skewed toward his side, but the unedited video of the original incident that inspired the case is there.

No because my mom worked with a guy that was murdered and they came and questioned her without a warrent.

Well, do note that this case revolved around an incident in which the cops had "reasonable suspicion", so it still does not give them the right to take your name for no reason. Of course, most courts will rubber-stamp a reasonable suspicion claim - but it would depend onthe circumstances.

Cops, though, expect people to answer their questions and tend to get testy when they don't. Or, more to the point, they realize that the appearance of testiness when in uniform will usually elicit the answers they want by people unsure of their rights, or who don't feel like being harrassed.

Yes they were because I made them flip their ids(they have to if you ask).

Zepp is correct in that many will get a tone that will make most people give them what they want.

Never found out their purpose though. My wife was concerned for a bit that we might get hassled more but it never happened.....
